The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Shooting is less up close and personal don't you think? Plus in hunting situations that animal has a chance to survive if you miss.

The animals have a really good chance to survive if I shoot. :gig

Actually, my dad taught me how to shoot a rifle and a handgun when I was a little squirt. We'd go down to the river and practice by shooting at soda & beer cans as they floated downstream. He also took me skeet shooting a few times, that was fun!

yes, maybe thats it, also maybe because i was young and didn't consider them anything but food, i never, never make anything a pet that i know is going to be butchered, i can't even eat it if it was a pet and usually won't let husband kill it, sometimes dies of old age :lau on the place

:frow Morning Sour, have a great day
Debby, I loved that ad... Around here they include words like "must have actual experience with a real keyboard and mouse" And then there's the whole phone thing. Work must stop when there's an incoming text.

:frowMorning cappy have a great day and enjoy the sun, I have liquid sunshine today.
Hi Bob, We are due for rain tomorrow. It is overcast this afternoon.

Skeet shooting is fun! Hubs taught me how after we got together. I suck at it though.

Sounds like you enjoyed those times with your dad quite a bit.

I did have a good time with my dad. He traveled for his job a lot so when he could make time to do something with me, that was special. I sure miss him, he passed in 2010.

That does make it tough when they're gone a lot. It's good that he made sure to spend time with you though. What did he do for work?

He was an engineer for a steel construction company. He had to travel all over the midwest to make sure buildings were being put up correctly. When the steel industry took a big hit in the '80's he took an early retirement after something like 30+ years and then worked for Sears in their tool department for another 20 years.

I've never had any before, I'm afraid I'd get too attached to use them for food. But I do find it interesting to read about other people's experience with them.

No pig zone here. They are far too intelligent and interactive with their keepers for me. I love pork in its many forms, but someone has to produce it for me.
