The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

@NFC here are some pictures-some might not be that great, sorry it's so muddy and yucky-but it goes with the weather. I can't wait to get Spring and Summer pictures.

Morning everyone.

Hi IM!

Good morning, Troops! We got a lot of snow overnight, but the sun is shining brightly and the wind has died down. It was so windy Darth blew off the tree!

No big plans for today. It’s winter out there and I don’t want to go anywhere. But we have to get license tabs for the new truck - the temporary tags expire over this weekend. Wyoming has to be the worst place ever to buy a car. It’s going to cost us over $1000.00 for taxes and license tabs. The drive from here down to Basin should be a nightmare.

We actually had some sunshine this afternoon too...very welcome!

Looks pretty wet there alright...but it is kind of pretty too. Probably pretty in the way you all think all my winter snow pictures look pretty :gig Love the jonquils!

I didn't say anything, but you all had me a bit freaked with your dental $ stories yesterday. On my front teeth I have 4 varied shaped and colored teeth with crowns/caps and 2 natural teeth. Yeah a varied look and 5 different color tones. My dentist (he did none of this work) has hated them ever since I started using him 15 years ago. Today I went for a consult to get an idea what it would cost to 'repair' this mess as one of the crowns keeps popping off. 4 new crowns and 2 porcelain veneers will cost me $10,656. I expected a much higher cost.

He told me, "Look at movie actors' smiles and pick the one you would like to have." As I rolled out of the chair with laughter, he said, "Okay, forgive me I forgot who I was dealing with." If I have relatively clean clothes, don't smell too bad, and have money in my pocket ---------well, you all sort of know me. How the heck do you pick what you want to look like ? I just sort of ignore the way I look. :lau I think I'll let the Princess pick the look as she is the one who has to look at me the most.

Whether you go with the Sean Connery look or the Sam Elliott look, you won't go wrong!

Good morning everyone! :frow

Cold for us 41°F this morning! Rain quit yesterday afternoon but the front didn't pass on out until about an hour ago! Clear skies and should be in the 70's this afternoon. :D

Everyone make it a great day! :celebrate
I’ll take your cold. We had a -2 high today.

What kind of truck did you get?

Oh, the Genius traded in Shrek. I know, I know. He traded in SHREK!!! The truck of all trucks! The best truck ever! Plush, comfortable, big and green....and he's gone! In his place is a 2017 Toyota Tacoma. Cramped, little, gray....<sigh> And as of today he's sporting SHREK'S plates! I guess now Shrek identifies as Donkey. All because of a temper tantrum. If Ken would have waited until we got home and he'd calmed down, it would have been okay. But he got really mad at Shrek, and before we even got home that day he'd traded him in - over the phone - for a truck we'd never even seen except for a couple of photos online.

Total for taxes and license tabs in Wyoming on a used truck...1290.00. Isn't that ridiculous??

It is ridiculous! It’s not cheap here either.

real butter
At Oleo Acres, the cheaper spread??? How COULD you sully the status of your home like that??

And maybe one on how Nifty could boot Blooie right on out of here for starting a wave of threads that turn chickening into medical-ing? 😆
Hey, chicken soup is medical-ish.

I am so over this rain and I'm almost out of annual leave :(
Too bad you couldn't boat your way to school, go into your room and occupy yourself with whatever struck your fancy. Not YOUR fault no one else showed up for work.

Shrek!? He got rid of Shrek? What did Shrek do to deserve that, especially after safely getting you both all over creation with Ken's Lodge travels?? I think Shrek deserved much better than to be traded.

I think I'll let the Princess pick the look as she is the one who has to look at me the most.
And decide how much she wants to spend for the "look" she is willing to see.

Actually, it's more of the Sean Connery look. :lau
But then you would look like @007Sean and we wouldn't be able to tell you apart!

Seems so to me but taxes are pretty high here as well - 6% so it would probably have cost even more here.

Okay, I've been kicking around a really weird idea all night long, and your job is to either shoot it down or tell me to go for it.
I say go for it. We have SO many people here and likely folks with pretty much every illness known to wo/man and we all love to assist others when we can.
So :ya you've come back to the coop!

Okay, I dun done it. Thread is posted. I chatted with Two Crows about it first, just to be sure, and it's perfectly fine. So if you want to go take a look, here's the link.

Bruce, Ken got mad at Shrek for something that wasn't even Shrek's fault. It was really Ken's mom's fault for only making Ken 5'4 inches tall. Neither of us can see over the hood very well, but Ken did all of the driving when we took Shrek. And we really loved that truck!

So back in December we were shopping at Walmart. I don't know if any of your Walmarts are doing this, but at every one here in the area they've restriped the parking lots and the spaces were made smaller. It's not my imagination - the usual disabled parking spot we try to get when Kendra is with us made it easy to tell when there wasn't as much room to get her wheelchair out. So anyway, Ken's trying to park Shrek and it isn't going well. Pull in partway, back out, straighten up, pull forward, back up..... Now, Ken's one of those guys who gets embarrassed once he thinks the world is watching him mess up. He gets mad and frustrated. And boy, was he mad! He finally got Shrek parked and as we walked into Walmart he was mumbling, "...just too da--- big. Can't park.....city traffic......" mumble mumble grumble. He calmed down as we shopped.

But then - you guessed it - the car that was next to us had left and someone in a nice big Ford pickup parked in that spot. Ken couldn't get Shrek out. The biggest problem was, in fairness to him, that he simply is too short to see over the hood and out over the tailgate. Shrek doesn't have backup cameras or beep-beeps....what Katie calls those little alarm beeps that tell you there is a pedestrian or a car behind you or in your blind spot. So he pretty much followed the same track to get out that he used to get in. As we got onto the street he said, "Look on Garvin's site and see what Fred has for smaller pickups." <gulp>

So I did. With every truck I mentioned he said, "Read the description." By now we're on the highway at 70 mph and Shrek is behaving beautifully. Ken, however, is not. I finally read the description of the one we ended up with. Ken said, "Call Fred." Okay, I called Fred, but I wasn't making this decision!! Nope, nope, nope, not me! I thrust the phone at Ken when Fred came on. So that's how it happened. Driving 70 mph down the highway between Cody and Powell, Ken traded in Shrek for this thing. We got to Powell, Ken went in and authorized Fred to start the paperwork, and the next day we left Shrek behind and drove out in this little Donkey. It was the first time we'd even sat in it....not a test drive, not a look-see, nothing! We did get a good deal - Fred and all the mechanics at the Toyota dealership know we had all of the maintenance work done on time and right there at Garvin. And believe it or not, the following week in the local ads was a photo of Shrek on the lot at Garvin, with a SOLD stamp over the picture. Fred said the guy bought it before it was even detailed. So right now someone else is driving Shrek and we have a little gray Tacoma Shrek-Wanna-Be. I think Ken has a blistering case of buyer's remorse, but that's on him, not me! This time.
