The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

going nuts here (as usual). My son says I have a package coming from Fedex - "sometime" before the end of the day. The doorbell doesn't work, so I have the door open with the screen so I can hear if someone knocks. It's freezing in here now.
Doorbell? Knock? I had to have a sign made so FedEx will at least put the packages inside the enclosed porch rather than leaving them outside. I stepped on a small package once, the driver had left it RIGHT in front of the storm door and the door just cleared the top of it.
:he Other times they have put it at the other door, the one we don't use except to bring firewood in or next to the primary door where the rain runs off. Good thing I get an email when it is delivered so I know to go look. We never hear the trucks.

They are bringing our new printer today. I'm sure the driver liked the package with a ream of paper and a high capacity black cartridge better than he's going to like the one today. Supposedly it is 70 pounds.
Xerox WorkCentre 6515/DNI All-in-One Color Laser Printer. Went with one that will duplex on its own. It is overkill for what we do but I figure since I don't buy the "newest thing to come out today" I might as well get one that does it all though I highly doubt I'll ever use the fax feature. Not even sure how old the Ricoh is, probably 10 years since I have an entry in Quicken that I bought supplies from Toner.com 10 years ago

Dirty eggs should be washed before incubating them. Science shows that they do better
I think we should show that research to the hens that hatch their own ;)

the hens usually clean the eggs!

Well MINE don't! Of course they aren't planning to hatch them so I guess they don't care.
One of the things broody hens do is roll the eggs which cleans them off.

Artificial incubation is similar to broody hatching but not the same in a lot of ways
