I can see the thousands of cobwebs that get strung up everywhere overnight. They seem to be between every branch and tall bit of grass or weeds.

DH just popped in to warn me about watching where I step when I go out to mess with the chickens. He's up here at the company houses mowing grass and just ran over a rattlesnake.

We haven't seen any this close to the houses since we moved here in 2016.

You can bet I'll be carefully eyeballing the nesting boxes before sticking my hand in there!

Carry a shovel or gun with you, they are both very effective at dispatching snakes. Do you see them at your house very often?

We've had a bumper crop of prairie dogs around us this summer so I guess that's what attracted the snake. I just hope he doesn't have friends or family living close by.

Given all that has gone on for you lately I'd say "grouchy" is on the "happy" side of the possibilities!
