The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning All! I hope everyone has a great day!

I checked on my hen and she came running to eat some cracked corn with everyone else. I will still keep a close eye on her today!

On another front I thought I would share some wiggly babies! After I checked the chickens I looked in on Daphne! She had 13 kits, I couldn't believe it when I finished counting all of them! And on Labor Day...so fitting! I couldn't get a clear picture they were wiggling so much...lol! So I videoed instead!

Hello and good day to you Rene :frow wow, that's a lot of babies and so cute ❤

Hi Sue, how are you doing these days?

Hello Cappy :frow I'm doing pretty good I'm told,

Update... Well almost enough to last a year on the dill pickles. Had two jars blow out. My jars have been used and abused for many years, so I can live with it. One had a faulty seam apparently on the bottom as the bottom came off clean, even though it's been through the canning process at least a dozen time. The other must of had a chip out of it that I didn't see. Based upon the label that I've never been able to get off, it's one of the first jars I bought.

On the good news side of things, between what we picked today and the last couple of weekends, we should have enough frozen green beans to last us until spring. I've also got a bunch of baby carrots out there that we can get next weekend. One day I'll relearn how to grow a proper carrot. Tomatoes are a 98% loss, Green and Jalapeno peppers the jury is still out. I have more peppers than I think the plants can support. And we have four cantaloupe that are still green. Given the flowers, we might still have another picking of green beans.

Sorry about the jars but overall, it sounds like a good day for pickle making.

I think carrots are hard to grow, at least they have been for me. That was a good crop of green beans you've had!

It's always nice to have another set of hands to do the work, and nice to have the company too.
