I think it’s better than chicken. I don’t care for store chicken much, but that’s something from my childhood. No venison or elk or boar? So good!
Nope! I’ve had Elk and Venison. I can handle venison in a summer sausage if it’s mixed with something else. I’ve had Bear summer sausage. That wasn’t bad.

We have a pair of pheasant around our property. We hear the male and I've glimpsed him briefly once. The hen we've managed to disturb a couple of times recently but she seems to always return for her chicks. Their camouflage is amazing so you just don't see them until you're almost standing on them.

We decided to bring the oldest 2 chicks inside today from the aviary. The littlest babies didn't have much in their crops whereas the older ones are stuffed full. The lutino hatched second but she's not far off being twice as heavy as her sibling who hatched first. They haven't started growing feathers yet and they are 2 weeks old so I was perhaps worrying too much about our older babies not getting feathers quickly enough.

Not a great photo as I was using my phone.

DD wants to call the lutino Lioness. I'm just calling her Pudding. 🤣

Good picture Jae! I take it that's the lutino on the left? Pudding suits! :D

Here's a better photo to show the size difference. Madam Pudding was still complaining that she was starving. 🤣

Sometimes they can be suspicious of new foods but these 2 had no problems adapting.

I have an egg hatching in the incubator that's from their nest. One of the adults had managed to pierce it with a claw so I put it in the incubator to give it a better chance and the chick has survived and has now pipped externally. When I add him to their brood I may take the next oldest who is around 10 days old. Then they'll just have 4 smaller babies to care for all a week or less in age, rather than having larger ones getting the lions share of the food.
