The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I just got busy, Phil. Being a writer is hard work.....have to think of all that stuff to say and everything. Then I have to wrestle with spell check because that ornery little dude has a bad habit of deciding what I intended to say wasn't really what I intended to say. <sigh> I think I'd rather change out ball joints sometimes!

Sort of like the day I put a 12 pack of pop in my shopping cart. I looked down at it and a blinding light hit me - caffeine free Diet Dr. Pepper? Um, good grief, Diane! Why bother?? I put it back and got high octane Coke instead.

Hey Blooie pass me a coke I'm starting the night shift

Nothing like a Coke and a Twinkie to keep you going!

Are you writing something special Blooie, like another article? Or just your usual good posts?

Nah, I'm working on my book, actually. Been awhile since I actually sat down and put any real effort into it, and now that I'm getting into my upper 60s maybe it would be nice to have actually finished something I started. <sigh> I should also get back to writing my columns I guess. Ken ran into the editor of the paper and he said Dave lifted one eyebrow and asked, "So, did Diane die and I just hadn't heard about it yet or what?" Oops.

Wait a minute...you're writing a book? And you do a newspaper column?

Come on, we need details. Is the book autobiographical? The paper columns, what are those usually about?

We all knew about your writing skills here on BYC but I didn't know you were a newspaper star too. I'm very impressed, really.

Thanks. I thought I'd mentioned that in my interview but maybe I didn't. Hmmmm Anyway, the columns I write are totally inappropriate for sharing here. They are totally political - well, except for the one about winter being the great equalizer and the story of our family's Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I just don't do political in a forum like this. But Senator Mike Enzi has used 3 of them on the floor of the US Senate and they are then entered into the US Congressional Record, which makes me kinda proud.

The novel is purely fiction. It's one of those boring Scottish hunks-in-kilts book, taken on because I got so disgusted with one I was reading that was supposed to totally accurate historically. Well, if you can explain a young woman in Scotland in the 1200s being able to read and write - and even more remarkably the stableboy she was sending the message to being able to read and write, okay. The worst part was when she asked her maid to take him the note and go quickly. The maid told her she'd go as fast as a hummingbird's wings. That's when I threw the book, stewed for a few days, and then wrote an email to the author informing her that hummingbirds have never existed in any part of Europe....they are only found in North, Central and South America and Mexico, with a few making their way to islands near Florida. I decided I could do it better. That kicked off an email friendship and she's offered to read my book if I ever get it finished.

So it's no big deal. Probably never go anywhere but my daughter has offered to buy one if it ever comes out, so I've recouped the electricity it took to run the computer if I also buy one. Teehee

I think Blooie, you are misunderstanding the romance novel, historically accurate they are not, Fabio laced, yes they are, now I'm thinking about you reading and writing them.lol.
