The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I enjoy those evenings when it can get so cold you hear your siding and deck popping and cracking as frozen stuff shifts. Some years can be a bit milder, but then there's more snow, so take your pick, tons of snow or really cold, I do prefer it over summer weather, I think I have Eskimo in my blood, and I melt in temperatures over 70.
Then you better not visit here in the summer - over 100 can be standard.

Yikes! I'd be dead in the yard.
No you wouldn't - you could hang out in the coop - my gals have their own fan, coolaroo shade and daily iced water and cold melons

. And it's under shade trees.

Or just do what I do, stay inside in AC :)

You'd never make it here in FL, at least not about 9 months out of the year, lol. Of course, I don't think I'd make it where my face freezes either.

Funny @sunflour I hadn't read your response to Oldhen before I posted mine. Guess we pretty much ruled out the south for her, lol.

it never occurred to me to give my chickens ice water, lol. I take out hot water in winter, by the time I get where I'm going it's warm. And I do hide inside in my air conditioning, it usually comes on when it's over 75, and I spend half the summer complaining about the heat while trying to get my gardening done.

Florida, with gators, snakes, sinkholes and swamps, nope, you can keep the south, I'll handle the north, with snow, and ice.

I give mine a pan with water and ice and throw in some lettuce - they bob for the lettuce and it does cool them off. When Big Buff was still with us, she would stand or slide thru the pan.
