The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hi Kim!

Your winter weather sounds nasty. Stay inside and waste some time with us, lol.

I am!! I've been out, done what I need to do and that's it until I have to lock coops up later on. Got the heating on full whack and iPad fully charged :D
Got a nice chilly simmering for dinner later which should warm us up.

no ma'am.

I just start incubating last Friday. I still have a little ways to go.

What are you hatching (I figure chicks, but what breed)?

Good luck, this is your first time right?

I guess between looking at the breakfast pictures and being so darned cold, I ate the oatmeal I had fixed for the girls morning treat. Mmm, hot oatmeal with dried cherries, crushed walnuts and a sprinkle of cinnamon. It was good, they would have liked it

Guess I need to make them some of their own.

yes, this is my first time.

it's a mixed variety of chickens, have no idea what, since the lady I bought the eggs from just sells yard eggs for eating. I think there are a couple of bantams in the mix too.

she also sells duck and goose eggs!!

You need to try some ducks and geese!

The more I read about ducks, the more I get excited about mine coming in April.

Is it the 11th you get them Debby?

Yep!

We're going out this weekend to pick up some more materials for their greenhouse space. Can't remember if I said what our plans are for their living quarters. We have a 30' x 14' greenhouse that no longer has covering on the roof or sides so we're going to put fencing up along the sides, have people door on both ends, cover the top and then build a house for them inside of that using the solar auto-door I won in the contest. They'll have 2 kiddy pools, food and drinking water inside the greenhouse. Once they get big, they get the run of the garden and a big portion of the yard (our property is fenced all around). I'm thinking by mid-April we'll be warm enough I can brood them in the greenhouse too, we'll see how that plays out with the weather.

I haven't had any new birds since April 2014 and never had ducks so the excitement is building!
