The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Well I guess I should have seen this coming.

Yesterday I let the girls out to scratch around their fenced yard. I walked around the corner of the coop to pick up something and all hell broke loose in the yard. In the 2 minutes I turned my back, that dog jumped over the fence and pounced on one of my birds. Her foot was injured and she was understandably shook up so now she's in sick bay.

I feel so guilty over her getting hurt, I thought the dog was with DH. DH blames me and said it was my fault.

Not the best Saturday ever.

Sorry though, i hope her foot heals and that she recovers quickly. You need to have a word with the dog though - this is the one you that followed DH back to your place the other day? - if so, and the owner comes to pick it up, charge them for the chicken!

Well, of course your husband is right - we always are.

I would file this incident in the 'Stuff happens' category. Hope the bird is OK. Sounds as if the dog was more interested in playing instead of killing.

These things happen Debby :hugs

I hope your girl heals up well :fl

Crazy thing is, I feel sorry for the dog too. He still has a lot of pup left in him and just wants to play all the time. Someone took time to teach him basic commands (sit, shake, stay), he retrieves balls, but no one has called to claim him even though we plastered "found" signs all up & down the road and talked to all the neighbors. Animal control will be coming to get him tomorrow and the shelter he'll go to is a no-kill shelter so hopefully someone will give him a good home.

P.S. Curious, those of you that said the husband is always right are males. Hmm, interesting.

Oh Debby I would too feel sorry for him. I hope they find his home or a new one for him. Fingers crossed he is chipped. They have just brought out over here that every dog now has to be legally chipped by law by may I think. No chip and you get prosecuted apparently. Not sure if they are going to go round checking in homes but I haven't got mine done yet. Ones too old and ones too lazy to run away.

As for husbands are always right, no way!! They just like to think they are and to pass the buck!
