Um, corn dogs? Fried in oil? Luscious, sodium laden dogs inside batter and fried?? With mustard? Lots of mustard? And French Fries - with salt? Real salt, not little white sand grains designed to fool you into thinking you are getting the real deal? <sigh>

Somebody calm me down before I run to the gas station and buy a pack of smokes. I just got the oddest PM from some one - obviously a kid - taking me to task for telling someone that chicks don't need grit until they start eating stuff other than a good quality chick starter. She proceeded to tell me that chicks live off their "yokes" - her word, not mine - for the first 24 hours and them mom teaches them to eat grit. It went on in that vein and then she says, "Your welcome for future references" and signed it "4 year weld county raining champion".

Now, I don't know how you become a champion of rain....and I sure was blindsided. I'm ashamed to admit that I totally lost my temper, something I normally do NOT do. But it just hit me wrong for some reason. The sensible thing would have been to laugh and delete. But it made me so mad.....she'll probably flag me now and I'll get whammed. Figures.

Okay, I'm going to go out and lock up the coop and see if I can calm down. Letting something this small and petty get to me is ridiculous. Today has been what Katie calls a "stink day" anyway - having a hard time smoking wise and incubation isn't going well. Grrrrr If she looked in through my living room window she couldn't have picked a worse day for this.

Blooie, I know this will surprise you, but I have had at least a half dozen of our younger members tell me exactly what a hateful old man I am. I just block them after that, but I have never been critiqued by a raining champion. Wow!

A hateful old man? jeepers Sour, can't imagine what you must have said to get such responses. I agree with you on blocking members - theres one member that keeps going on and on about heavy metals in almost everything. I did a lot of biogeochemistry - wish the member had done the same. I blocked them after they stated that steel was good for chickens - what a nut job!

Keep calm Blooie - have a pretend smoke. You'll laugh about it in the morning

I read a thread today where someone has birds that are laying 3 eggs a day. I responded that I wanted some of them so that I could reduce my flock by two thirds. They are probably going to hate me. My philosophy is that misinformation is worse than no information.

Thanks, my friends. So unlike me to lose my cool with someone, especially a young person with a lot to learn yet. Just a temporary loss of self-control on my part. Oh, well, it is what it is and tomorrow is a new day! I've got a couple of people on my "blocked" list, so it isn't like I didn't know there were steps I could take. If she'd blindsided me this morning, or even earlier this afternoon I'd have laughed it off and deleted it. What is it about one thing stressing you out that causes all kinds of little things to seem like insurmountable mountains? Sheesh, get a grip there, Miss Diane!
