The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I read a thread today where someone has birds that are laying 3 eggs a day. I responded that I wanted some of them so that I could reduce my flock by two thirds. They are probably going to hate me. My philosophy is that misinformation is worse than no information.

Alas, humour and irony are not something that comes naturally to some - I've had some belting responses when i've tried

Somebody calm me down before I run to the gas station and buy a pack of smokes.  I just got the oddest PM from some one - obviously a kid - taking me to task for telling someone that chicks don't need grit until they start eating stuff other than a good quality chick starter.  She proceeded to tell me that chicks live off their "yokes" - her word, not mine - for the first 24 hours and them mom teaches them to eat grit. It went on in that vein and then she says, "Your welcome for future references" and signed it "4 year weld county raining champion".

Now, I don't know how you become a champion of rain....and I sure was blindsided.  I'm ashamed to admit that I totally lost my temper, something I normally do NOT do.  But it just hit me wrong for some reason.  The sensible thing would have been to laugh and delete.  But it made me so mad.....she'll probably flag me now and I'll get whammed.  Figures.

Okay, I'm going to go out and lock up the coop and see if I can calm down. Letting something this small and petty get to me is ridiculous. Today has been what Katie calls a "stink day" anyway - having a hard time smoking wise and incubation isn't going well.  Grrrrr  If she looked in through my living room window she couldn't have picked a worse day for this.

Are you feeling a little calmer? :hugs
I've had some pretty bizarre PM'S too :/ Losing it sometimes happens to the best of us, I managed to get a post deleted (First one ever) after my blood boiled at a certain member!! I can generally keep things in check but that day was just too much :barnie

Blooie, I know this will surprise you, but I have had at least a half dozen of our younger members tell me exactly what a hateful old man I am.  I just block them after that, but I have never been critiqued by a raining champion.  Wow!

Shocked me sour! :th

If they hate you they obviously don't like the truth!!

Hi Kim,
Nice to see you here. A lovely Sunday roast planned? (please say no and you are just having beans on toast

).

The last time I attempted a bit of humour the OP asked "was i normal?" - no guessing what my response was! Have a great day up there in Gods own country (got my ticket booked for end of June

Afraid we are having beef & Yorkshire puds today

Normal? What's normal? Being from Yorkshire nothing is normal, per say :gig

I was afraid you might say something like that

Wow, just wow! I haven't had this pleasure yet, but maybe that's why I try to stick to the same threads all the time. :/

How many posts did this child have? I try to consider that sometimes, when they are new and obviously dont know WHO they are talking to! :D

I won't tell you what a hateful old man you are, you already know!

Would depend on the day, as to how I would answer that question! :D

Congrats on the trip, hope we get to see some pics!!

I feel so much better being here among my fellow grouches and other folks who aren't normal!

Me too! Let's hear it for abnormality!

Well, I put a post out about re-homing my flock this morning. I can't take them to WY and I so hope I can find them a decent home. Those little birds are my friends and I feel badly about losing them. This sucks.

P.S. Sorry, no fried, salty stuff for me at the fair yesterday. Well, other than the jumbo plate of French fries DH and I shared. But I had a lovely mango/pineapple ice cream treat AND a tasty coffee mocha ice cream before we left. Ice cream twice in one day...ahhhh.
