The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Do they shut everything down there on Sundays - used to around here - but now Sunday is just another day....except for alcohol sales you have to wait til after churches let out

No, tis just a normal day - everything open. Its been law not to sell alcohol until 10am for quite a few years which is a pain. I'm not alone though, there's quite a few like me, waiting outside the alcohol section at 9:59

So nice to have coverage at the pro shop to allow you some time with him. The job opportunities comment surprises me, with a low population - but I know nothing about WY or KS

But we live in a larger population area but for the young folks not a lot of good job openings around here. The better jobs seem to bring in folks from other areas of the country - guess it's our pitiful public school and loads of "dummies" or poorly motivated youth?

Hope he does love it and moves closer to you:)

Either an old sign/joke. So sad but our largest mental hospital in Milledgeville closed due to lack of state fundings - and all those folks were relocated to the community

. Even the really psychotic ones are now at large.

All but a couple of the largest mental institutions in KS closed back in the late 70's when I lived there...same reason as yours, lack of state funds. Surprise, surprise...lots more homeless people with really big mental issues were then loose in the local communities. Of course, the "powers that be" that were responsible for the cuts didn't have to deal with them. And none of them went without their big pay raises every year.

Time to get going, hope you all have a good Sunday!

In the UK they called the same thing "care in the community" - what a joke.

So they close over there as well....but if those walls could talk

Have a friend who has suffered from mental illness. He was in that hospital around 1992. In one of his rather rash moods, he decided to climb onto the roof. Fire Service there - full caboodle to try and get him down. He did get down eventually, and told me he got a good kicking from the male staff for his efforts

- its not funny, but he laughed about it when he told me, so hey...

Actually, he met his now wife, who was a nurse there, so a bit of kicking was a small price to pay

This place is just a couple hours from me. Closed in the mid-80s. They say its one of the most haunted places now. I've been there on a tour. It is definitely creepy.

(Mobile not being kind to posting pics today)
