The chicks will be picked up today (which is Friday, I think). DOH

@sunflour the electrolytes I picked up at TSC have the brand name sav-a-chick on the package (it's a 3-pack in blue packaging). One packet can be mixed into 1 gallon of water.

Figured it wouldn't hurt to have on hand.

We did lose two of them overnight - I was afraid we would because they didn't look so good yesterday, but all the others are doing well.

i gotta quit entering all those Edible Easter and Gingerbread contests! As I said yesterday on the Edible Easter thread, I just realized that I'm taller laying down than I am standing up!!

Looks like the girls are going to be glued to the chicks for a while Blooie, lol. Sorry you lost a couple of them but glad the rest are doing well.

I've been MIA for a bit. I love spring

but I can think of a million things to do. Doesn't leave much time for socializing. My quail eggs should be hatching at any time but I'm not sure how well it will go. I'm on day 17 and have had bator problems since Monday. Only smart enough to figure it out this morning

. When I put them on lockdown the temp had dropped. Only today did I realize I had taken a sponge out at the same time. Since Monday I could hardly keep the temp over 95. It's under control now but I don't know what effect that may have had. I hear peeps but doesn't sound like more than one or 2. Guess time will tell.

I've never raised quail or incubated anything so I'm not good at predicting what will happen. I hope you have a decent hatch. Keep us posted!

Quail are tough so you should be ok dawnmt70. How many eggs have you got in your incubator? I rarely hear any peeping before they hatch. But I love holding an egg up to my ear and hearing them tap tapping to get out. Prepare for cuteness!

Sunflour, hope you are feeling better soon. Sounds like you picked up a really nasty bug.

Love your photos Blooie. Silkies are such cute babies and yours are going to be adored, obviously. Sorry about your losses but at least you were the one to deal with them.
