The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I like your doctors better than ours. Both my husband and I have been told we are obese by our doctors because we both are about 25 pounds overweight. I prefer the term plump.

Makes me want to punch them when they say that. I would love to be the ideal weight but that will never happen in this lifetime. If I was 9 feet tall I'd be about perfect for my weight

And Back! That did not take as long as I thought it would .. I got there 30 minutes early so got snuck in because the patient before me had not arrived. The bus schedule also worked out in that it was due and arrived 10 minutes after I got to the stop to go home which was great because they only run every 45 minutes.

Anywho .. the reason he wanted to see me before the blood results? He had no idea! Checked on his computer and said, ah yes we have letters from the hospital but when he opened them, they were FYI’s from my Heart Coach! Imagine how unimpressed I would have been had I not had the blood test and wanted the results of that!!

So, I now have to have further blood tests next week because of consecutive raised iron levels and the possibility of haemochromatosis or rheumatoid. Both would explain my achy breaky joints and fatigue but so would stress and packing!

While I have dropped 9kg since being in hospital and probably need to lose another 5-7, I must admit not once did anyone in the hospital or my GP recommend it, I did that off my own back, may be because of the reasons mentioned here, suing etc.

Apparently the haemochromatosis test is a gene thing and can take a couple of weeks for the results, so, if all good I hopefully will not need to see this guy again. He has requested a further Ferritin [iron] test in July but by then I will be in Forrest Beach and hopefully found a GP I like.

Oh and because it was Saturday .. $110!

While all that was going on, I got a text message from hubby to say FIL had just been taken off in an Ambulance with severe right side, lower quadrant back pain. For FIL to want an Ambulance, it must be bad. May be kidney stones??? Anyways, sadly no more news yet except that his last BP was 220/93 which is way too high.

That old saying ‘when it rains it pours’ is definitely true today!

Good grief Teila!! I hope your FIL is ok, let us know when you find out. Good luck with your blood tests. I did all that last week and thankfully it was good. My neighbor has high iron and has to donate blood on a regular basis.

Great news! FIL is OK and it looks like it could just be muscle issues. His high blood pressure has the ER peeps getting him to see his Doc on Tuesday [long weekend .. yep, another one!] and hubby is keeping a very close eye on him. Like most of us, FIL was very happy that they let him go home

That is great news! You've had quite a day! Enjoy your long weekend.

BYC has a most excellent thread called (I think) " Look but don't touch" integration method. It is the gentlest, kindest way to do so without bloodshed . Put in search box and it will come up or something with the same words in different order, I learned of this being a greeter and we recommend it often to people. They just dump new chicks in with old hens and after babies got brutalized, they "come to BYC," for help asap.

Got my newbies today:

They'll be in the tote brooder for a week or less and then get to move to the big brooder.

The store only got 5 Welsummers - and one IMO was a different breed. But hey, I only wanted 4 anyway and I do think they are all pullets :)
If I had not been off today, bet ya they would have been bought by some one else.

They have only been at their new home a couple of minutes when DH took this pic.

Congrats! They're so cute, I hope you have a lot of fun with them

Good morning!

Weird things happening with the computer this morning, hope it all clears up soon. My cursor seems to have gone missing and it's taking multiple clicks to do anything, weird.

Hey! I'm going to have some help soon in the kitchen! My high school girl from last year is coming back and she's going to be my baking assistant. She'll be a tremendous help and is such a sweetheart. She should be ready to help out at least on weekends in a couple weeks then full time once her school is out for the year. I'm now responsible for burger buns, pizza dough, corn bread, Cole slaw, smokehouse beans, and 6 sauces so the extra pair of hands will be, well, handy, lol. And somewhere in there, I have to start baking deserts too.

Cold, cold, cold here...it snowed off/on yesterday and last night got down into the 20's. Today should get up to 40* which won't be too bad if this wind would give us a break.

Sunflour, your new babies are adorable! So glad you were able to get them.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
