The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

We're still here. Not leaving until Wednesday the 10th. She's about where she was....but the tubes are out and she's breathing on her own. We'll take every glimmer of improvement we can get!

That is a good sign. Hope she continues to show improvement.

Blooie - glad to hear Linda is improving! Hoping for the best for all of you.

Debby - Did I miss the update about the luncheon? (Guess I should go back and look first.

Not much new here. We found a great handyman to repair some exterior stair railings, a small awning over our laundry room door, and a few other things. Hope to get the house painted this month. Been working on the garden, but it's so darn hot in the sun I need to wait until the shade moves. Good excuse to get on the computer for a bit.

First named chick - meet Violet.

I expected a fun day with moving the chicks to the big brooder, but it was somewhat of a stressful morning, this chick had a foot injury and was bleeding from the nail area. I painted it with Blu-Kote - but 2 other chicks were pecking her and pulling her leg so hard I was scared. Changed to a red light, but that did not help.

I moved them to the new brooder, put up a wire divider for the 2 meanies in one side and Violet with a friendly protector in the other side. All went well until later in the day when Violet and likely my Alpha Chick were frantic trying to get with the the other two chicks. Long story short - I moved them together and they have been happy and peaceful together since the "time out for bullies".

I gave them 1/2 a boiled egg tonight - they showed their chicken selfies - but Violet braved up, grabbed a mouthful and started a chicken food run - hilarious IMO that she was the only brave one in the lot.

They loved the boiled eggs and are all great buddies again

So, here's a pic of Violet AKA purple toe chick :) Thank goodness it was just a toenail injury and she is acting as if nothing wrong ever happened:)

She's adorable. :)

Hi everyone!

The luncheon was yesterday and went well. The gal that organized it even came back with her husband last night for dinner so we had her for 2 meals in one day, lol. Of course as always seems to happen, with the dining room full (and our hands full), a lot of other people came in for lunch at the same time so we were pretty much at full capacity. I worked 15.5 hours yesterday and too tired to make it downstairs to my computer. Thanks for asking how it went!

Sunflour, your Violet is so pretty. It sounds like you're having fun with the chicks!

Blooie, Linda being able to breath on her own is encouraging. I hope she continues to make strides. Please keep us posted.

Friday, glad you've been able to find a good handyman. It's always nice to be able to get chores like that taken care of. Are you working on a vegetable garden or flowers?

Btw...I went to 2 websites and ordered shoes from each company (Skechers & New Balance). Hopefully, something in the bunch works out but if not, I'll just send them back. Thanks again for some suggestions.

Hope you all are having a good evening (or day as the case may be)!

Hey, DMC...there is no ugly stage..come on post some pics tomorrow?

It's only been 4 years since my last experience but these gals seem to poop constantly :sick .   Thank goodness no pasty butt issues like I had with the first gals.

I had one pasty butt...one of the little black ones came with it and it was pretty bad , so glad I caught it. Yes they poop a lot. I'm cleaning their coop tomorrow. I'm thinking I have a couple roosters...hope I'm wrong!
