How cold does winter get in your area Ron? Do you get snow where you are?
:yesss: I have seen it snow about 5 times since moving here in 1992. It did not stick though. We get snow in the sierras though and they are about an hour and a half away.

If I drive towards the ocean, I can play in the waves. Go East and play in the snow. California is an amazing state with a lot of micro climates!

Good morning peeps! :frow

Been up for two hours and have fed and watered the chookens, walked on the beach, fed the pampered puddy cats, got the first load of washing in and now a quick time out to catch up online before getting stuck into the rest of the day.

Plans for today ... drive in to town to try and replace my phone which Syba managed to break while knocking it off my desk .. it still kinda works but texting is a nightmare [unresponsive screen] and getting the thing to charge, near impossible. There is only a small crack in the screen but I think he managed to break a board or something internally. Of course, he was forgiven pretty much instantly, phones are replaceable ;)

Then there are some weeds that need killing and vegetable garden that needs tending to. Planting some vegies was one of the first things I did and they love the warmth and humidity. In the ground I have leeks, spring onions, tomatoes, capsicums [bell peppers], chili peppers, habaneros, lettuce, corn and assorted herbs.

Sadly the girls can no longer free range due to the hawk numbers; they are everywhere! But the girls do have a nice big run which I am still fixing up for them with lots of potted vegetation and entertaining things. Looks like we might get some avocados this year also, lots of fruit on one of the trees :drool

While I have a lot on my plate, the rewards are so worth it!

Oh yeah, I bought a push bike off my neighbour and go for a ride every afternoon after work. I had been working on losing some weight and I am pleased to say that in the past 12 months I have lost 44lbs [20kg]

While I look like I am going to the races, FIL snapped this one of me while I was gardening, I do not usually like pictures of myself but this one I do, probably because half of my face is covered :lau

Thanks for the vocab lesson!
Congratulations on the weight loss!

Tee hee, I actually typed mobile phone but then changed it to phone because while we call it a mobile, it is a cell in the states?

Didn't even think about push bike! No idea why but yeah, we call them push bikes, I guess as opposed to motorbikes

The slang here is bicycle for what you call a push bike and Bike for a motorcycle. I call them both Bikes which of course confuses people...when I say I went for a Bike ride they think I put on my Leathers and jumped on a Harley!(Hog)

For sure we're twins, I never know anymore what day it is .... unless you work Mon-Fri regular hours, each day is the same :D.

Update on the first layer contest.....Debby is looking really close :lau

That is so true! During the summer I can't keep track because I work 7 days a week. And during the winter, I just don't care!

I'm trying my best to mentally 'push' chicken Debby into paying some rent, lol. go Debby, go Debby

I was so tired today i actually took a nap! While the construction workers were banging an hammering just below on the deck! Now that is tired!
I think i may have an inner ear infection along with the double sinus infection. If it were middle ear the fluid would just leak out because i have a tube in that ear. I am already on antibiotics, and dr office closed until Monday. Maybe the extra sleep will help.

Sounds like you're gonna win, none of my Wellies squat - but we'll see what happens :D
My 2012 girls all squatted when their time came. NONE of the 2015 girls ever did, they were broody raised (Zorra, one of the 2012s). This batch was on their own for 3 weeks before Zorra decided to take them on so they are kind of "hybrid raised". I've not seen Mint or Oreo squat and they were the first to lay. Cassie and Veronica both squat, Cassie laid egg #2 today.

I know lots of people need to keep a faucet running for the cat too.
Our 4 cats drink just fine but DD1's cat Checkers has always knocked the dish to see where the water level is (NONE of the other cats do that) and it was messy. I finally broke down and got a "running water" dish. Didn't want a fountain that was making noise all the time. Haven't had a bit of spillage since it was put in
