The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

He has only been with us for one week so I was expecting a meet and greet. Prior to the move I would have been worried but now that we are much better off financially, not so much. While I am pretty sure my job is secure, que sera sera if that is not the case. I have at least 3 months leave up my sleeve, plus due for my second lot of long service in 2 years, so pro rata long service also. And, as I have a mark free record, if I am not needed anymore, a redundancy package would probably be on offer.

I could go and pick those vegies I mentioned the other day ;)

Sorry, I had 2nd thoughts after I posted that, your situation is more than likely different than mine was. My experience just taught me to be leery of people claiming they want to understand what the jobs are and offers to "help".

Picking vegetables wouldn't be a bad last resort!

Looking forward to the weekend! I have that one last overgrown garden bed to start on but was not able to because my garden bag was full and not due to be picked up for another couple of weeks. However, the dude unexpectedly arrived today and gave me a free pick up because he picked up a few more new customers in town and is trying to get us all on the same pick up day.

So, now I have an empty garden bag again and it was free .. time to fill it up!! :p

On Monday, I have a remote meet and greet with our new Chief Technology Officer who wants to “understand what you do better and see how I can best serve you and the team” … should be an interesting conversation :p :duc ;)
I need to get a roof fixed on a hutch in the back yard. I may hatch quail for the NYD hatch a long!

Nice, i like them. What country are they from?
They are from Spain. A person from our state thread brought hatching eggs back from a vacation and I got to hatch them.

This is the original flock that I hatched out:

Run for the hills!

I agree with your DW...you definitely better get more chicks in the spring! :jumpy
 She's looking at the catalog right now!

Do you have 12 chickens? ;)
YES!
plus 5 extras ;)

Pita Pintas
From their look and coloring, are they Mediterranean and lay white?

Question (and remember, this is a non-duck person)...do ducks molt and stop laying like chickens? Or do they stop because of the shorter daylight hours? Maybe both reasons?

I'm still learning, but I'm told that if they don't stop laying they will lay all winter. But if they stop for some reason, they won't start again until spring. I changed their feed and everyone stopped laying. So I guess I'm waiting for spring.... BTW, I didn't change feed by choice. Ordered the feed two weeks in advance as usual... New GM at the co-op decided he wasn't doing custom non-GMO feed anymore. However, he felt no need to tell me. So when out of feed, I could buy tucker (crappy quality feed) for $17/bag vice my custom blend which was $11.70/bag. I found a new feed supplier, but the supply stream has been challenging. I think I've finally worked out most of the kinks but still don't like the feed. Once he fixes his roaster, I can start getting quality feed.

Cleaned out part of one coop, spread the litter out on the ground in my garden. Excited we are getting a few loads of topsoil near where i planted the berry bushes. And fill where i want the green house. The guy came today who did our driveway and gave us a quote.

Cap I met a newbie today that could benefit from your cattle panel coop design... Suggested (s)he look into it.

gorgeous birds.

Sounds scary, but might not be. When I take over a program, I like to come in, in stealth mode and hear what those doing the work think. Makes it easier to formulate a plan of attack.

And in the meantime, I made a little something for you...

Lol! That was awesome!:hugs

That sounds rather ominous.

The last time someone said that to me, my department was dissolved and I was reassigned to the nastiest VP in the company.

been there got the t-shirt:th.

ok, I spent an hour on a phone interview and you filled four pages.:barnie:th

Oooh, no need to apologize and I hope that my reply did not make you think that you needed to :(

I was just sharing my feelings in that before I too would have been concerned because I know that with a new big boss comes changes, but now I am more relaxed about it and will only worry about it, if/when it happens :)

Gorgeous birds! They almost look like a speckled sussex but in black and white?

Even though I am sure theyre not related.

Is anyone raising them here yet?

They lay light brown eggs but are very heat tolerant since they are Mediterranean.

I am relieved to hear they lay brown because I prefer brown eggs or Easter Egger colors. Not that they taste any different. Idk, it's just a weird thing I have.

Plus maybe it's me but I feel like white eggs have thinner shells at least the store ones here. But of course maybe my own chickens would be different.

But also white ones are just flightier

These are very calm chickens.

There are three or four breeders here in California. Some eggs were sent East this summer but I do not know if the person is going to breed them.

I hope to one day import more...when I live at a place where I can work with them
