The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I can’t watch IT...can’t stand clowns, hope you enjoy your movie.

I don't like clowns either, there's something just wrong (and scary) about a grown up painting their faces that way!

Morning and Merry Christmas to All:frow

KD, Next we'll have to teach you how to make your own American Cheese. It's easy.

That's sounds interesting Bob (the American Cheese)!

Merry Christmas everyone! Happy Holidays to everyone else. :frow

Love the photo Nicky!

Then don't buy the Gruyere that was listed in the recipe you linked ;) The other cheese common to fondue is Emmentaler, another Swiss cheese. I'm sure my family would be fine using both of those in Mac & cheese. I think Mascarpone is sort of an Italian "cream cheese". I'm not a huge fan of Swiss cheese, though it is good in fondue. I lean toward Provolone and Muenster for sandwiches. Cheddar and/or Jack in tacos. Parmesan or Romano on pasta.

How sad, no real cheese ;) I would be hard pressed to eat that, I skip the "cheese" when I go to a fast food place.

Oxymoron. Can't even legally called "cheese" it is a "processed cheese food product".

CHEESE! Any kind of cheese is my favorite!

Merry Christmas, Chat Folk,

Merry Christmas Sour!

Merry Christmas to the sweet, gentle, loving souls who have made my life so much richer! May you receive the blessings this day promises for each of you.

Blooie, Merry Christmas to you & yours. So nice to have you back where you belong!

Merry Christmas lovely people! Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Merry Christmas J, hope you, your family and your tiny birds are having a great day!

Nice!

Guess what I got for Christmas this morning? I got a photo!! Yep, I did, and I love it! Our great-grandkids, Madelyn (2) and Landyn (4), love to talk to us on the phone. Jamie has shown them snapshots of us, and they know WHO we are, but they don't KNOW us. So in their Christmas box this year I sent a big picture of Ken and one of me, just for them, so they'd be better able to put faces to our voices and names. Well, this morning posted on my Facebook wall was this picture of them holding their pictures of us, and a wonderful "Merry Christmas". Best Christmas gift EVER!!!

Love the picture B!

To Bruce's point, it is processed cheese product.

Here's the recipe I used, but I also added 8 oz of sharp Cheddar. It's important to weigh your cheese, rather than measuring it in a cup. The better quality cheese used = better quality/taste in the final product. Thinking about adding some smoked Gouda next time I make it. There are some interesting youtube videos on making homemade Velveeta—but haven't leaped off that cliff yet. Largely because I can't remember the last time I bought it.

I loved watching Steve Irwin, i was just like him growing up catching all sorts of critters except poisonous ones. He is sorely missed! What a loss when he died.

I used to love him! I remember being so sad when he died.

Never thought of making my own

Lol love it

Even worse, diesels weren't real clean back then!

Not jealous, just seems they are giving "special status" to vehicles that aren't exactly "special" in any way. Not at that age. But for all I know the same would be true here, I've never looked into what VT considers "antique".

Muellers? Very common in the stores here. I'm surprised they don't sell in down your way.

They might sell it here, I never really look very hard cause we usually buy Barilla or Prince.

Thanks for the info on the cheese. I'm actually the same way as you. American or Provolone on sandwiches (Muenster is pretty good), we use shredded Mexican mix on tacos, parmesan on pasta but just the shake kind. Only used romano in lasagna or ravioli. I guess I've eaten more cheese than i thought haha but nothing exotic or artisan. Hate brie for instance. Well, refuse to try it. I did finally try some feta though and some goat cheese with the cranberries. Now that stuff is good.

As for the American, sorry, I actually don't really like Kraft slices and all that or the fast food cheese. I'll eat it because it's not a burger without cheese and I used to love it but I know it's not real cheese. I like the American cheese from the deli. Though sometimes it's too thick or dry. But that's a bit more real, no?

I HATE scary movies.

And yes i love cheese too.

Thanks for the recipe! Looks pretty interesting!

Anyone ever made yogurt?

Merry Christmas everyone!

@Blooie! It is so good to see you back! You were missed!:frow:celebrate:frow

Bruce, dude, lighten up:weeLife's too short to be taken so seriously.:wee

Don't worry. I promise NEVER to drive my old school diesel Mercedes anywhere near Vermont. She's happily semi retired and happy to stay close to home, as am I.

We had a wonderful afternoon at the neighbors. So nice having kids around you at Christmas.

Happy Boxing Day Friends :hugs

Loved every minute of 'IT'! N F C Thank you for the link. I did post early in the piece and have been lurking ;)

We had a lovely dinner and evening. Our neighbour, who is French, is a really nice guy and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting to him and adore his accent, I could listen to him all day. Hubby did an awesome job on the turkey, crisp on the outside but still nice and juicy; delicious :drool

Hubby loves Boxing Day more than Christmas Day .. the Boxing Day Test [cricket] starts today, Australia V England so he is glued to the radio.

I am having a relaxing day today also, going to give the girls the rest of their vol-au-vents, water the lawn and not much else :p Leftover turkey, ham, salad, cherry pie and trifle on the menu today so no cooking.

It is Christmas evening for most of you? I hope so very much that you all had a wonderful day :hugs

@Teila you're awesome! Hope you have a great day—but please explain boxing day... I've never heard my Ausi friends speak of it.:caf

Ditto! :hugs

Well, there you go, I did not know that you were not familiar with Boxing Day. I believe it originated in the UK  It is a public holiday here in Aus and also a big shopping day, Boxing Day sales.

I bought myself two tops and two pairs of shorts on line [70% off] but that is it for me.
