The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I know you love dogs - would you mind looking at this post #1 ?

A member is having concerns about below freezing temps and his labrador is in labor.
I replied to her post. She's in an untenable situation. I've never had a dog that had a litter, but those temps are way too low. All of mine have been recues that someone else threw away.

It makes me sick when people refuse to supply heat to an animal that is whelping.

Thanks...I did not realize the member was not an adult, guess it should have been obvious. IMO no dog should live outdoors in that extreme weather, and for sure pups born in below freezing conditions are doomed. Folks who don't care for them properly should not be allowed to have them..:duc..

Sorry, for the rant, it's Christmas, so just hope for miracles :)

I stopped responding because they don't want suggestions, they just want to be told everything will be alright.

Edited to add they have provided heat now, hope it works out. I remember being a helpless kid.

Merry Christmas to the sweet, gentle, loving souls who have made my life so much richer! May you receive the blessings this day promises for each of you.
And you are at the top of that list @Blooie!

Largely because I can't remember the last time I bought it.
Re Velveeta - I don't remember exactly the last time we bought it but it was probably > 50 years ago. Only used it for bait when fishing. The gummy texture is good for holding it on a hook.

I like the American cheese from the deli. Though sometimes it's too thick or dry. But that's a bit more real, no?
I think it is the same stuff as you find in the dairy case, just not pre-sliced.

BTW, you mentioned that shredding the cheese for the M&C was difficult. What are you using to grate it? We don't try to do soft cheeses like cheddar and Jack in the little "hand spinner" grater, that is used for hard cheese like Parmesan. We use a "box grater" for softer cheeses. It is important to stop before you get to your fingers ;)

We had a lovely dinner and evening.
FINALLY @Teila gets to eat a decent dinner!!

I just checked out that thread... hope they survive.

It seems to have a completely different texture and taste than the other stuff though?

I'm talking this

Versus deli counter cheese. Much drier and different. Idk how to explain it.

But the first one is gross

As for the grater, not sure what we use. Hold for picture ha
