The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I know...I shouldn’t expect more from the guy who opens the cabinet, moves the crackers to look for the crackers, then yells”Hey, honey...where are the crackers?”
HEY!!! I resemble that remark!

Bruce have you checked for mites and worms?
Nope. My girls haven't ever shown signs of such critters.

BTW @Blooie, we don't have a cover for the white KA we got at Christmas. I see it has a pocket for the shield (which I'm sorry to say I could be more impressed by), does it have a pocket on the other side for the "standard" attachments as well? Whisk, dough hook and beater?
I’m not impressed with the shield either, no pocket other side...

But pale combs can be an indication of either....
True but my chickens have always had pale combs when they weren't laying. Soon as they decide it is time to get back to work, they redden up again. And since they are reddening, I ASSUME the increased daylight has their hormones revving up.

I don’t care too much for the shield-that-is-anything-but either, but have no place else handier to store it, just on the off chance I MAY want to use it one day. Actually the lid from a one gallon ice cream bucket works better. Cut a hole dead center and fit the beater shaft through it before you attach it. I use one to cover the bowl too, if I’m refrigerating dough or whatever for a bit. No pockets on the other side of my cover either but I’ll bet someone who sews could put one on. I have a friend who added one cut from a pair of blue jeans on her mixer cover.

Ours came with it but it is kinda flimsy and doesn't sit on the bowl very well. The old (early 1990's) Kenwood has a shield that is a complete circle that shoves up onto the mixer itself so it rises when the powerhead is tilted. Quite solid. The shield has to be put on before the mixing attachment is put in.
