Maybe they could still free range but only when supervised? That's what I think I'm going to start doing with mine because I don't want to keep them locked up but there's so many hawks and things

Ahh that makes sense. But I do think most dogs can be trained out of it, despite claims and wives tails hah or maybe she could be on a leash?
