Yeah, need the girls working HARD ... and figure out what to do with a dozen egg yolks. When DD1 makes her gluten free bread she needs 2 whites. She will sometimes make chocolate truffles with the yolks. I think someone needs to make an "Egg Yolks and Whites" cookbook. Recipes that need ONLY yolks or whites.

You can make your trial cake and take it to work to share.

Given all the "stuff" they have to put in the boxed mixes to keep them fresh (for years), from caking, etc no one should be surprised when "from scratch" comes out better.

That is a good plan, no need to fight off the lure of the wine in the bottle then ;)

We've only found remnants lately. When we are really lucky they do the deed in the shower, easy cleanup.

White Coatitis

LOL

Aaaw, just so cute Jae! :love

With delivery, my angel food cake tin is costing me $20 also.

Remember Mr Gecko in my office window track? Well, he is still there and today I have been catching flies and dropping them in the track for him .. gunna have one very fat gecko very soon ;) Might just have a new friend too :p

When I drop them now, he comes straight out and chomps them up!

Aww cute

Four of the yolks can go into lemon, raspberry or blackberry curd. The rest can be saved and added a couple of a time into scrambled eggs or french toast batter.

Lemon or raspberry curd is very tasty on angel food cake!

We were wishing for a small army of geckos last night. The flies are loving this hot, humid weather! It's warmed up again for us here but it's not quite as bad as it was.

Hopefully the Angel food cake pan works out well, especially seeing as the postage was rather hefty!

Here is a birthday comic you can share with your DH on his birthday:

@Teila if you guys like eggnog, this is a good way to use the yolks:

You could make some challah bread too, that's good stuff (and it makes wonderful French toast). This is the recipe I use for it:

Gotta run, I have an oil change appointment in town. Catch up with you later!

Hubby’s birthday is coming up in the next few weeks and he has mentioned that he would like an Angel Food Cake which I have never baked before. Apparently it is tricky to get it right. I have perused a few recipes on line but just wondering if anyone has any tried and tested recipes or tips?
I've only made it a few times, but I can definitely say, don't skip the step of placing cake pan upside down on a bottle. That's what helps keep it light and fluffy.

I try and copy hubby’s grandmas sloppy joes and just can’t do it. He’ll just have to choke down mine. My boys have said if they ever get married they are going to have me teach their wives to cook like I do and I said good luck with that. If it tastes good, who cares if someone else’s is better.
I had a boyfriend who constantly said "that's not how my mom makes It". I just kept making it my way. A few years later we went to visit (We lived in a different province). He kept saying "I like the way you make it better".
