Still haven't been to the library yet but I figured I'd post sort of a mini/slight pet update?
I've been teaching Gator some new stuff after watching tons of cool trick videos and puppy ones and stuff so while he'll probably never be super dog knowing like 150+ or 400 tricks, etc. There are some things he can learn. Like I've been teaching spin. I tried it a while ago and he was "lazy" and never wanted to do it so I stopped asking but I also never watched videos on how to teach it and was probably moving too fast for him. Maybe he just didn't know it yet. So now I've decided to reteach. And then also one video I watched or actually two by two diff people said how to teach them their name again. So one said when they look at you, you say it and click and treat. So you wait for them to look and don't have a cue yet. The other said you say it and then when they look, if they do, then click and treat. I'm doing that second one. Not really sure which is better. But supposedly the idea is that they start looking at you when you see their name which he does not really do. He does know "watch me" which is kind of the same thing but I want to teach him his name too. Or reteach. Hopefully that is not confusing to him? I've also started working on targetting/touch with his nose. Anyway, basically I've started training him somewhat again which I think he hopefully likes but he also walks away from training sessions more frequently than ever so idk if he's getting old or he's bored or what

he will eat dinner, drink water, or just simply go lie on his bed or plop down in the middle of the floor and refuse to work anymore. I've always let him which I know some may say is disrespectful or those are distractions but I figure training is supposed to be fun so if he doesn't want to, I'm not goimg to force him. This is mostly tricks, obedience I do take more seriously. But anyway, even though he has always, now it's much more frequent and often before most training sessions he wouldn't walk away whereas now he does so idk what's going on
But anyway, he has also been on a new food, two small bags of two flavors, well he's been itching and licking himself like crazy and I just couldn't stand to see him tearing himself up anymore so I finally today opened a bag of food of another kind we had bought.
My dad bought Purina Pro Plan Savor both lamb and rice and beef and rice flavor, 6 pound bags, a bag of Rachel Ray Beef and Rice, and then we got sold on Blue Large Breed Chicken and brown rice. Idk which Blue variety, like Wilderness or Basic or Freedom, etc. But I don't think it's grain free.
But see like here

Anyway, I don't really like Blue because I find their sourcing sort of questionable sometimes and some animals get greasy but the lady was convincing and also said large breeds really should be on large breed food. Idk if that's true. But we bought it anyway.
My dad insisted on trying Purina because well, idk why. But I say it's because he had a coworker with either a bulldog or a Frenchie (french bulldog) and she has all sorts of allergies I guess and they tried tons of foods even expensive ones and it didn't solve it but then they went on Purina and now she's fine. So I think he thinks it's some sort of miracle food.
Well, he started immediately licking and itching and I knew it was the food but didn't want to waste it. But finally just a few minutes ago when we wrre training he started really going after his legs and between his toes and also rubbing his eye, which that one isn't abnormal, but with the other stuff and how long he kept at it, I just couldn't stand it. This new one isn't grain free but at least it says what the animal is. The other one has corn, soy, animal digest whatever the heck that is, and several other gross and disgusting ingredients. Yet he insisted on feeding it to him. Well now I am proven right. That it was going to be horrible for him.
Oddlt, he has been on other Purina before and was fine so maybe that's why he wanted to try it? He was on Purina One Smart Blend before. So maybe it is just this variety? But whatever it is, I want it nowhere near my dog. So we will try the Blue. It is a slightly bigger bag, maybe 15 pounds.
Also just Googled and i think it is this one

After this I might find a grain free.
Anyway, I refilled the chickens food yesterday or the other day but there was only enough for one bowl so I may need to check again now. My mom did buy some more food last week so I just need to get it out.
I also desperately need to change the fish water but I really don't want to right now because it will be a big huge process because i have to clean and replace the filter too, possibly vacuum if I can get it working, and scrub the tank. I accidentally dumped a large pile of food in there a few days ago so of course the tank bacteria instantly bloomed so I need to change it before the die, I just need to figure out exactly when because it is a big process that I need to make time for and I am very tired today. I also have lots else to do and places to go before they close. But fish health and safety is obviously very important so don't worry, it will definitely get done today. It can't be put off any longer. It also smells very strongly in that room. Theoretically I probably should have scooped the food out immediately but I didn't want to look for the net and figured they would eat it eventually.
The cat I just found trapped in my room. She is oddly hanging near me instead of going downstairs to eat or use the litterbox so idk what her issue is. And no she is not hungry or thirsty because I just checked and refilled that yesterday. I think she just wants a can of wet food lol and speaking of foods, she has been on a new food maybe a month or two and i really love it for her. It is slightly expensive but she does well on it and loves it. I've been feeding her Nature's Variety Instinct Original. So far we have tried Duck and now the current one is Rabbit. She seems to love both and do well. Before that I had Evo which I really loved because it was very high protein, close to 50%, but we ran out and I think Chewy either stopped carrying it or the brand got discontinued? I may look into other places to buy it. But some of the food was also slightly fishy even the non fish flavors so that's another reason. But she seems to love this.
I also bought her a bunch of cans last month too so we've been slowy using up those too and trying out different brands and flavors. She has liked all of them so far.
Oh and I just bought Gator a bunch of training treats at
Petco too but now he doesn't seem as interested in training. :/
But if he doesn't use them then I can give them to my brother for the new puppy.
Soooo yeahhhh that's about it.
