The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Early evening and just a quick visit; I have greets to catch up on! ;)

Another good day pottering and a visit for coffee with Gai and to visit Omu who did a little dance for me and nattered away for most of time, except when he was having his siesta. I enjoy my visits with Gai as we have similar interests, animals and gardening .. we chatted about the fish, our ponds, the garden, cats, her wallaby; thoroughly enjoyed myself!

On the way back from grocery shopping we passed a house with plants for sale out the front; we could not stop because we had to get the cold food in the fridge/freezer. So, I jumped on my bike and pedaled back; came home with two plants in my basket :p I had no idea what they were and there was no one to ask, just an honour box, which of course I put my money in. Anyways, get home and asked my neighbour about one in particular and turns out it is a desert rose :clap Now I just have to not kill it LOL.

Hope they don't get cut on the mirror edges. My mother taught me to be a world class worry wart -

So far so good, and there is much complaining if I dare remove it! Those little Buttons are vain!

Colossus is so docile and friendly compared to the more uptight and independent Buttons. And so cuddly!

@Teila - those Desert Roses are gorgeous! I've been drooling over seeds from some but not sure how well they grow from seed - I'd like to try though. Here's an auction that has some growing notes about them. Pretty much treat them like a succulent.

He also says that she is really small for 12 or 13 weeks, smaller than she looked in the pictures, and that her paws aren't that big, so he doesn't think she's going to get nearly as big as him.

And yes, she does appear to love that elephant. Still carrying it. Lol

Could she truly be younger? Many times the rescued animals don't have a known date of birth - friends of mine adopted a kitten supposedly 8-12 weeks old, but I'm sure she was only about 4 weeks of age.

Anyway, she is cute - I love her white areas :)

When I miss days - happens a lot because I seem to need a lot of naps during the day, I am up sometimes to 7 am catching up. I'm a night person by nature anyway.
My father was very strict about not finishing things when I was a youngster. That and he had OCD,& anger management issues,as does my brother to a lessor degree and me to the least obsessive.
My mother suffered from agoraphobia, which we didn't know till I got into therapy. Then I realized it was the reason I spent most of my time in the house, and couldn't wait to get back to my room after school.
Enough about that, therapy helped about a million percent but, didn't start till later in life
so missed a lot of sleepovers, parties, possible dates

You really had a load to deal with growing up :hugs. So glad you turned out to be so normal :D.....like the rest of us.

I'm sure they make plenty of profit or they wouldn't be doing it.

The two folks I know who volunteer don't get paid - the one who fosters does get the animal food free the other lady just volunteers her time. The ones in our area are not high profit companies, but maybe in other areas they are :idunno. Kinda like other non-profit organizations - some give almost all to the needy and others have highly paid managers and very little donations really go to the needy. In our area the Salvation Army actually uses most of their profits to help people.

Colossus.

He's cute and huge in comparison.
You are so good at picking names :clap

Uh oh
I did it again....

I am so ready to get bedding plants - but alas it's too early here.

Just wondering, how far can you ride your bike to shop??? Is your area real flat :th. I think I could only ride a bike now if the entire trip were downhill :D

Morning everyone!

@JaeG congrats on your jumbo baby! He's adorable :D

@Teila is your unknown plant a type of bromeliad? That was my first thought/guess anyway. Nice for you to get to spend some time with a friend.

@sunflour no bike riding around here either, everything is either up or down. I did used to ride one in south FL, no hills there at all.

@Michelle Farmer-Brown nice looking birds! I hope they do well for you:thumbsup

And now I can't remember what else I read. Must need more coffee. Of course, it would help a lot of Opie wasn't so determined to sit on my lap and try to type too.

Good Morning Debby,

I don't think I could type before coffee.

What's on your agenda today?

Hmm, my agenda, lemme think. Nope, don't have one for today! What about you, anything special planned?

Good morning all! I’m on my first cup of coffee and am going to need more.:cafI’m not a good sleeper and in someone else’s bed it’s worse...ugh!

Lol, DMC, took me a minute to recall you went to your sisters

I thought you were working on a new dessert today or maybe that was yesterday?

I haven't cleaned the juvenile coop :sick . It is one that you take apart - the only bad is the flooring . but we have had chance of rain daily and it has to be really dry to rebox and put in storage.

We have not removed the raised frame it was on, will be removing that today. Had to locate a hanger for the feeder that is on one of it's sides. Found it late yesterday, but did get it painted and ready to install today.

I got me a "chicken yard" cement bench on Friday - it took forever to create a level place for it to rest, and was a heavy haul to move the top and place it on...but did get it done, and love being able to sit and visit my girls :) So kinda taking things easy so I will be over pain to work tomorrow ;)
