The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning :)
DMC - I loove that painting
N F C - I can't wait to see what your son creates
I'm always so envious of people who can paint. I can't even draw a good looking stick person.

I should take some pictures of some of the paintings he's done for me. I tried once before but they're framed and the glass cast a glare. When I get a chance I'll try again.

I grew up doing a lot of art but kind of got out of the habit. When we had our store I used to do a lot of painting on the ceramic tea pots we sold...guess people liked them ok, sold a lot of those. I only have one saved back for myself, this one which was never finished (forgive the license taken with accuracy, I didn't have chickens back then):

Kelsey, I loved seeing your photos and I did mean to comment on them but I was supposed to have someone coming to look at the cockatiels last night that are still available but she never turned up. She finally sent me a text saying she'd got caught up at work and hadn't got home until 8pm. Hopefully she'll come tonight.

Anyway, that peacock was gorgeous and you looked like you had fun.

@N F C I love your painting and I'd love to see your son's paintings. I used to draw a lot but round kids and pets it's hard to find the time these days. I did buy myself a drawing set a little while ago but I haven't opened it yet.

@JaeG hope your potential customer comes tonight. You need to make room for more babies :D

You should get out your drawing set! I wouldn't be surprised but your kids get interested enough to play around with it too. That's what got me started when I was a kid...my mom was a wonderful oil painter and she used to let me paint next to her on my own little canvas. I think that was her way of keeping me out of her hair :p

Both of them love to draw and paint. I'm just worried they'll borrow my pencils then forget where they put them.

I hope she turns up too. I hate waiting around for someone to turn up, especially when there's no set time. I feel like I can't do anything.

That's fantastic! You should be really proud.
I used to spend a lot of time @ one of those paint your own places. I loved it. It was so relaxing. My crew @ Starbucks gave me a gift certificate years ago that I just found. There's a place about 45 minutes from here. Maybe I should start hanging out there when the weather is bad.

I currently have one cute little Button quail chick who is a bit lonely. I put it back in the incubator last night to give some of the others a hurry up and so the poor little thing didn't cry all night. It did cuddle up to and go to sleep by one of the eggs which has pipped this morning (but they will be severely staggered).

I didn't think the female who is this ones mother would sit because she's inside and frequently has nosy cockatiels climbing down to peer in their cage. But yesterday (I had been replacing her eggs with some from the other cage) she stayed on her nest all day and chattered warningly at the other female if she came too close. So I'm very pleased that she's got the right instincts, but I'll wait and see if she's a good sitter and mother. I'll have to keep an eye on the male and second female as well just in case they don't know how to react to babies.

That sounds like a great idea Michelle! You should go before your busy season kicks into gear. And then you have to show us what you made :)
