The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Blooie did say you get worse weather than she does and I know she gets pretty strong winds.

We usually get it worse than Debby does during November, December, and the first part of January, but with weather that can vary. It's just a generality. Then oh boy!! I wouldn't live down along the I-80 corridor in late Jan - late April for any money! Sorry, Debby - you know I love ya but those months down there are the stuff of nightmares!

Wind in Wyoming is unlike anywhere else I've ever lived, and I've lived in many. They sometimes don't even bother with wind warnings unless we're looking in the 40-50 mph zone, except on the interstates where the semi-truck traffic is heavy. We often joke here that you can hang out the laundry at 40, fly a kite at 60, and close the interstates at 70 once all the semis have blown off! Kids went to Denver on Saturday and the electronic sign over I 25 warned of crosswind gusts over 50, and they passed several trucks and an SUV pulling a travel travel all blown over. Right here last January we had a National Weather Service official reading of 90 mph. Clark, a community not too far from us, has had winds over 100 mph routinely, with some gusts higher than that. In 2014 they recorded 110 mhp. There the homeowners secure their roofs with steel cables stretched over them and pounded into the ground to meet some insurance companies requirements. Yeah, like that! :th

Debby, I don't know where you're going but I don't suppose I'd be lucky enough to have Cowley on your itinerary??? Travel safely, my friend!!:hugs

Hi @Blooie ! So glad that you're ok. The last thing I saw you post was that Kendra wasn't feeling well.... what did you get for a computer? Happy 50th! That's such an amazing feat!

Sorry, trying to keep up but I'm kinda hodge-podging it. I got another HP All in One. I loved my other one...literally to death, I guess. Had it in the shop, and they were having trouble resolving it. They called and asked about putting a new hard drive in, and I suppose we could have done that, but I just wanted get off the stoopid phone and back under my blankie on the couch or floor. Ken suggested a replacement the night before we went to Billings for our anniversary, and I was okay with that. Don't know why, but just 2 days before the old one died I just happened to think that it had been a long time since my last backup, and since Ken was gone I did it to kill some time. WHEW!! Sure made setting this one up easier.

Kendra had a major eye infection following a bout of adenovirus, and I got it from her. My inner eyelid actually adhered to my eyeball overnight, and it was so dried out that when I soaked it open it sprang open, ripping the cornea of my eye. So I was down hard with that, Kendra's bug, and immediately afterward got a confirmed case of Influenza B. Ken got it, I got it, Kendra ended up getting it, Tam got it, Jenny got it, and Katie got it. Katie literally had her eardrum rupture from the severe congestion on top of it. So when the computer died, I was too darned pooped and sick to give a rat's hiney. But although I could keep up on FB easily enough on my phone and/or iPad mini, I can only do BYC for a couple of days at a time, like when we travel or something. To try to keep up here and manipulate this forum with those tiny devices is just too hard. So I figured I'd be better in week or so. Yeah, not!! But getting better now, Ken still feels rough, neither of us have much energy yet. Kendra's Spina Bifida checkup in Denver this week went great and they are back home, so things are settling out. :thumbsup

We got this today:

Severe Weather Alerts - Woodland, CA

  • Wind Advisory
Wind Advisory in effect until 8:00 PM PST. Source: U.S. National Weather Service

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TO 8 PM PST THURSDAY...

The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from 7 AM to 8 PM PST Thursday.

* TIMING...Southerly winds increase Thursday morning and continue
into Thursday evening.

* WINDS...Southerly 25 to 35 mph with gusts 40 to 50 mph.

* IMPACTS...Difficult driving conditions especially for high
profile vehicles. Loose objects becoming airborne.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 40 mph or greater are
expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult,
especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Yeah but that's still slightly robotic/just the facts and doesn't have the slight humor twist to it. Idk. Maybe the other one wasn't funny and its just me ha

But wow that's a lot of wind!

I only got 2 extra quail eggs with my 25+. But they were packed in foam so no broken ones that i know of yet. Didn't unpack them totally.

Hope you have a good hatch!

Chickens are a pretty easy, put out food, make sure they have water, collect eggs. They don't even have to like each other.

BUT, as we know, he can buy their undying affection with some BOSS or scratch. Even Oreo (Exchequer Leghorn) has decided I'm not out to get her.

Lol true

What really made me mad were all the cigarette butts everywhere. I mean really, they take the time to spruce it up and just trash it!

Pretty! But ugh people are so rude

Sorry folks, i've been reading like 90+ posts and hope I make sense here...

DW and I eloped on 2/8, so when we did the "official" wedding we did it on May 8th. Long story, but turns out the hospital sent mom a receipt for the blood test...

.

I'm definitely ready for spring. Good to see you here.

Blooie so glad you're ok and all is normal... Tell Ken that he and I have a mutual acquaintance named hyram...

We had to put down our cat of 18 years, but he was a fighter right up to the end.

Forgive us if we worry...

Teila Great job on hubby's B-day dinner... Bask in the complements as you deserve them.

evening all:frow

Debby have a great vacation...

Aww sorry about your cat! My grandparents cat I think is 18

My son used to flick his cigarette butts everywhere...until I made him pick them up. Do they even put ashtrays in vehicles anymore?

My dad used to and still does sometimes but now he usually puts them in a container. Still leaves it outside though..

WOW!

And that is just regular wind? Not storms?

Wyoming weather vane...

Yes, that's a real plane moved there and perched on a pole above Interstate 90 in Wyoming!

Awesome!
