There IS land under there somewhere, right??
That should keep you fed for a few weeks!Been busy with pigs the past couple of days. Slaughter, skinning & hanging on Thursday. About 8 hours of butchering and sausage making yesterday. Smoking bacon tomorrow. Phew. About 500 lbs of meat.
Hubby put down the baby quail with the bad feet and ankles. The teeny one died. The one with the bad beak is hanging in there. The rest of them are thriving!
We processed it ourselves, so legally we can't sell it. A friend is going to buy 100lbs but the rest is for just the 2 of us. Finally convinced CJ that we don't need to raise pigs again this summer. That should keep you fed for a few weeks!
Fair to ASSUME some of it will be sold??
Do you buy feeders and raise them out or breed your own?We processed it ourselves, so legally we can't sell it. A friend is going to buy 100lbs but the rest is for just the 2 of us. Finally convinced CJ that we don't need to raise pigs again this summer.
400 pounds will last 2 people a LONG time. Over a year if you each eat 1/2 pound EVERY day!!!We processed it ourselves, so legally we can't sell it. A friend is going to buy 100lbs but the rest is for just the 2 of us. Finally convinced CJ that we don't need to raise pigs again this summer.
We bought feeders with the intent of either getting our own boar and breeding it with the one gilt we had. Eventually we figured out it would cost too much, so we'll stick to feeders for the time being. We butchered the gilt last November and the 2 narrows we had this week.Do you buy feeders and raise them out or breed your own?
