The bunnies are very cute!View attachment 1314296
The Easter bunny will be here soon!
What are you going to do while there?
Nice Rant!We are going to my grandparent's farm for Easter. They are selling it so this is kind of the last thing. They actually just closed last week I think but they allowed to stay until April. My mom is already there but she's coming back today, left last night. I think it's kinda stupid cause we're going back Friday lol but oh well. Anyway, she's been there for about a week. My dad and I are flying on Friday but driving back. She I think is gonna have to leave again tomorrow or Friday. She's driving again for some reason. So stupid to come back lol
But ANYWAY.
We are going Friday morning and we were going to drive back Sunday but I just talked to my teachers and got permission to miss class Monday. I explained the situation and they were very nice.
Because obviously I'd rather not have to leave ON Easter.
So yeah.
Anyway, they have 10 acres and grapes and stuff (though grandpa leased the grapes out years ago) but they are just getting too old. So moving to a senior living complex, not assisted living though.
One of my aunt's coworkers or friend or something is buying it. They are also selling it cheaper than it should be. He's the first guy to want it. They were afraid they wouldn't be able to sell it. Then they found out they had e coli in the well and thought they had to fix it but my dad is like no you don't, sell it as is. But then it turns out they don't even have the e coli cause someone read the results wrong?? And also they got a realtor involved after they were already selling to this guy so now they have to pay a commission when they didn't need him and he didn't even do anything?
The whole thing is just very stupid and a huge mess. So my mom is understandably very upset.
We kind of are too.
Especially cause my aunt didn't really tell anyone anything.
And also we think that they should have at least stayed for one last summer at the farm and sold it after summer but they sold it so fast.
Or just not sold it at all and stayed there.
My grandpa loves that farm but is getting too old to maintain it. And I think my nana is afraid of being there by herself if something happens to him because it is kind of isolated and far from my aunts and uncles.
But he loves that farm so I don't think it's really fair to him.
I think they should stay one more summer. It's almost cruel to move before then.
But ANYWAY.
Sorry for the rant hahahaha
We are going for Easter. And they are going to have a professional photographer on the farm.
Also my birthday is Saturday so we are somewhat going for that too.
My parents and I are going.
My younger brother is on vacation and my older brother I think is home but maybe already has plans? I don't know, I think my mom also probably didn't tell them the plan soon enough.
Which is a shame but oh well.
Luck! And we're off to Billings! May check in from time to time, but it's gonna be pretty hectic up there. Wish me luck!
Nice Rant!
It is very hard to see older relatives start to fail. Hopefully they will be well taken care of!

Thanks! It definitely is. They are in their 80s though and have been having lots of health problems the last few years so I get it but it just sucks. We've all been going to that farm for forever too. And I wouldn't even mind if they eventually sold it but it's just the fact that it's so rushed and that they have to be out by April that bugs me because I think we all would have liked one more summer but especially my grandpa.
But it's really nice. The house is somewhat old/old people style hah but they have a beautiful garden/yard and they have a huge separate detached garage. It's literally like 5 bays because it's 2 car and then my grandpa somewhat extended the back of it for his tractor and stuff so really it's like a 4 car but the bays are huge. He has his truck in one bay and their car in the other but he also has his workshop in that one and in the back he always just had his tractor but you could probably put horses or something back there.
Tbh I haven't been in the barn in forever cause we usually just go straight inside so I don't really know what's in it haha
His hands shake and stuff now though and his eyes are going so he hasn't been able to worl in the workshop lately
I think he has some sort of immune disorder.
Which is a real shame because he LOVED that workshop. He built their deck and he has built birdhouses for each of his 4 kids, etc. Always building and stuff.
He also loves hunting and has always been a huge hunter but this year he didn't go for opening day of deer season.he has gone for probably decades, since he first could. So it's definitely sad.
Fortunately though I think he can still shoot so he goes to the shooting range I think once a week or maybe every other week, not sure. He loves it and goes with a longtime friend of his. So that's good.
But he's just too frail and old to go walking around the woods for hours and get up super early, walk in the freezing cold, etc. To go hunting plus no one wants to go with him anymore. One of my cousins used to go with him all the time but she moved away and has a baby now and the other two also moved away. My other cousin is only 16 and not really into it. So he didn't go. But we did buy them a bunch of game meat at the time.
Anyway, yeah, I think it's just an apartment but I'm not really sure.
I think it might even be one bedroom which is such a shame given how independent they've always been and they've always had that farm with all that land for walking and the whole house. I mean, their house is only one story but it has a huge kitchen and living room, dining room, 2 bedrooms (technically 3 but one is what they call the "den", computer with couch), and a huge basement too. Not finished but he makes bullets and stuff. And of course the ginormous barn with workshop. And the deck and garden. My point is moving to a tiny apartment after so much freedom is kind of a shame. Like caging a bird.
Sorry I always go off on tangents ha
Speaking of aging/failing relatives, we lost my grandma in September 2015 to colon cancer but she had been battling it since I think the spring. She was 93 so she, sadly but understandably, chose not to do chemo or any treatments. It wasn't so bad at first and we had nurses come and she had patches and stuff. But then she eventually went into a nursing home. The first one she HATED and cried a lot because I guess it was just fill fullof dead and dying people and just had a certain atmosphere, I think she was maybe sensitive to that stuff, so we busted her out so to speak haha which she was very happy about. And then the second one was a lot nicer and brighter, cheerier, and everyone loved her. But it was sad because she had always been very very independent, active, and sharp as a tack. Did crosswords every morning, loved playing Scrabble, still drove around, went to the pool to swim, walked around hee neighborhood with her walker, etc. etc. So to see her start to lose her mind was hard because, again, she was always sharp as a tack, even at 93, and never had Alzheimer's or anything.
Sorry you had to go through this!
93 is a nice age to live to though and not having dementia is great!
