Good Evening Friends :hugs

Love the new Houdini’s Cap! :love

I hope the nasty weather does not hang around Deb and others :fl

Michelle Wow, just Wow  I am so pleased we do not have skunks!

It is just coming up to 05:30PM and today I started early with a coop clean; then killed some weeds; load of washing; trip in to town for a cappuccino oh yeah and to pick up some feed for the gals and dinner for us [T-bone steak and hot bandito wedgies]; back home to sow some peas; plant a pink desert rose and white Iris my neighbour gave me; move some potted plants around; de-undergrowth 3 more palms along the fence line; watch my football [AFL] team lose and ran out of time to scatter some mulch my neighbour also gave me.

Now I am off to do some greets so I do not get too far behind.

OMG!
I just got home and went to close the pop door and there was a skunk making itself at home inside the coop!! All of the birds were calmly on their roosts like nothing was out of the ordinary. It moseyed on out almost right away. There were eggs in the nest box, but it didn't touch them.
My silkie sleeps under the nest boxes, so she went out to the run while the skunk was inside. Now she's as happy as can be out there ( she never goes out into the run) and she won't come inside. The people door for the run is frozen into 3" of ice, so I can't get in there to get her. I don't want to leave the pop door open in case the skunk comes back.
I had that happen last summer. We were camping and son went out to lock the girls up and he ended up having to shoot it. Girls were on the roost. Thankfully it didn’t stink too bad:sick

Good morning!

We had lots of skunks the last place I lived in KS. One summer we had a lot of rain and I found 4 newborn ones that were washed up on to the walkway going into our house (their mother had been keeping them in a den under the concrete). Then there was the year so many were rabid...the neighbor boy walked out to catch the school bus and one chased him back down the driveway and all around the house.

The best skunk story was when a new neighbor decided to hire a pest removal company to get rid of his skunk problem. The company rounded up over 45 in a week, what a huge bill for that! I told the neighbor guy it was probably just one trained skunk and the company was catching that same one over and over :gig

Enough of that stinky business! On with the day!

Thanks, that's true. How deep would you say? There's not really a good spot to put it atm. I might put it on the hill if we clear some trees.

I hadn't thought of any of that. So would I need a pump or filter or something?
You definitely need a pump and filter unless you want a stagnant mess. You can put bubblers in to keep the water aerated which will help but with no water running through the pond, it will still get nasty unless it is filtered.

As for depth, if you aren't going to keep the goldfish in it over the winter, I would think (with no actual knowledge!) 3' would be OK.
