The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Thanks! Do you know what it's called? Ha
I just used a piece of wire on the gate latch for the door that goes under the deck to get to the pool pump and filter. Ran it through the hole in the latch and twisted it to hold and made a loop on the inside. Free.

My peppers haven't sprouted. :(
Too late now, they won't be big enough to do anything this summer. We more northern gardeners have to plan ahead or (like I do) buy some kinds of plants at the nursery. Peppers are one of them. Don't plant until after last frost though. Here that means Memorial Day. Could be a week or two earlier for you.

Jealous! I planted some peas, carrots, beets and spinach last week but more on a wish and a prayer. It was down to just above freezing all morning - but I think spring really is coming tomorrow....I hope? Would love to get more planting done!
Good luck with the barrier!
In the fall my chickens got into my garlic - I re-planted most of it, though some of the rows aren't too straight! :)
Straight rows are over rated. I just toss them in.

Well, I got most of the garden planted today. Still have to put out tomatoes, peppers, herbs and some broccoli.... And I cobbled together a chicken barrier out of left over fence, zip ties and T-posts. Folks on the garden thread said I didn't need to buy the deer fence that 2' chicken wire would work. So I've used a combination of 2', 3', and 5' chicken wire and a 10' piece of 4' 1/4" hardware cloth. It's definitely country engineering, but appears to work. I still have one more hole to block off, but they haven't discovered it yet.
We planted potatoes and asparagus on Saturday. We tilled up the raised strawberry bed and put asparagus in there. The strawberries never produced so we’ll see what happens with asparagus. I am not planting anything else yet as it can still freeze.
It was funny... I hadn't blocked off one of their favorite entry points when I took a break. Came back and had a hen totally confused stuck in there because she couldn't remember how she got in. She didn't do any damage as all she did was pace the fence line... She would get within 2' of the totally open space and turn around and walk it again. BTW this is the hen who likes to lay eggs on top of one of my chicken houses. She flies really well, but never thought to use her wings. BTW, collecting eggs from the top of the chicken house is a real pain.
I bet it is:gig

Love the hanging basket Cap!

Tee hee at the funny Debby!

Not that I need a reminder of why I want out but today is release day and I have been here 4 hours and resolved 26 of the incoming 41 tickets received so far :caf

Luckily hubby’s cold has not affected me too badly to date, just a few sneezes and a bit of a sore throat; unlike him who completely lost his voice yesterday and looked like death warmed up! ;)

I got another pressie from Hubby on Thursday! Should I ask him what he did? LOL :gig

Cute!!

My husband stakes and ropes the rows so he can get a tiller down them.
