Cleaning chicken coops at 12, mowing lawns at 15, working in a nursery at 17, working for a veterinarian18 - 22, married at 22, graduated college, worked at an ornamental display garden 22 - 26, bought a home at 23, worked for a J & J Co. - animal care 26 till retirement. Worked every hour offered while wage and saved, saved, saved - yep, invested too. It all paid off. My kids have followed the same pattern - we got lucky. Was life easier then ? Biggest difference I see was that we saved and then bought. Didn't buy and worry about how to pay.

That makes sense. Seems like people mow use the card as like "fake"/invisible money, living above their means, then get in debt. My friend's parents pay stuff off immediately and I used to think they were liie crazy/obsessive or rich or whatever but really they're smart cause that's what you should do and if you can't pay it you shouldn't buy it. Yes i need to follow my own advice lol I'm very guilty of it. Working on not being

In other news, found a wasp nest starting in the little plastic feed shed next to the coop and I just heard an animal in the house so today is a bad critter day lol

Gotta spray the wasps tonight, thankfully it's still tiny.

And my dad thought I was crazy when I said there was an animal in the closet LOL "there's no animal" "how would it get in?", etc. Then he got up there and heard it himself and agreed there was definitely an animal. Although of course it decided to shut up and stop making noise when he first got up there.... It finally decided to make noise though ha

But I was terrified at first cause I get up there and hear this noise, like this rustling around, figured out it was coming from the closet cause I actually thought I saw something run in lol turns out I didn't but anyway, then there is just all this rustling around and movement in there so I open the door. And I still hear it so I jump back away from it, trying to see into the closet but not get close.

I scream down to my dad a bunch, with like it's an emergency get up here :lau

I tell him there's an animal, doesn't believe me, I'm like just come up here please lol, he agrees, although surely thinking I'm insane. Sure enough, I wasn't and was actually right for once.

Although turns out he didn't think it was coming from inside the closet but rather the wall in there. So good news and bad news. Good news, no mouse, rat, squirrel, rabid raccoons or anything else came flying at us, bad news we have some big animal in the closet lol

Oh that reminds me too, at first he was like it's the cat and I'm like it's not the cat, she's downstairs, I just fed her. He agreed to come up after that. :lau

Yeah, credit cards are a trap!

Hubby and I both have one but with small limits and for emergencies only. I think they are good for emergencies but we do not use them for 'stuff we want'.

Yeah, I'm terrible at using for stuff I want. Working on it though. I've been trying to use cash for stuff but some stuff is only available online. I'm working on just not buying anything though. I go into stores and walk out with so much stuff.
