The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Unfortunately, as you know, this area is crazy expensive even with multiple roommates
Interesting coincidence. Last evening a girl about your age stopped by. Works for VPIRG (*) Lots of different topics in the discussion, not all "business". Seems she is couch surfing for a week between old apt and new. Old apt had 3 roommates, this one will have 4. And yes she has a 4 year degree. Apartments in Burlington tend to run $800/bedroom utilities not included.

I might possibly volunteer at an animal shelter or something too just to get some more experience working with animals.
Good idea. Any experience you have, and references from same, will aid you in the future. Volunteering and being reliable/responsible is a positive even though the pay ($0) isn't so good.

but for some reason the last couple weeks have been pretty rough and rather up and down.
Maybe because you just graduated? Now you have no purpose in life and are figuring out what you want it to be. Pretty normal!

But I will get there. Just need to turn off the TV and phone.
:yesss: I know you will get there.

Yeah, usually same. It never used to but lately it keeps me up. Idk why. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
Your body produces melatonin when the sun starts to set. It is telling you to wind down. Listen to it, just like your chickens do. Given it is light until 9 or later right now, bedtime should be an hour or 2 later. Doesn't work so well in Dec when it is dark by 5 or 5:30.

My friend's parents pay stuff off immediately and I used to think they were liie crazy/obsessive or rich or whatever but really they're smart cause that's what you should do and if you can't pay it you shouldn't buy it.
They are richer than they would be if they were paying interest on their credit cards. Do you know what the interest rate is on your card(s)?? We recently got a letter saying ours had been decreased ... to 18+% IIRC. I don't pay attention to that because I have never once paid interest on a credit card. But you should think about it. Somewhere on the statement it might tell you how long it will take to pay off and how much that is if you pay the minimum AND don't put anything else on the card until it is paid off.

Keep out of water

LOL even better idea.

Yeah, I think rent here is about the same. At least 2K, sometimes 3, 4, 5K, even more if you live in a rrally good area. And of course the ones less than 1K or 2K are usually not safe and/or are in a terrible area. I think I need to move somewhere more affordable. But maybe work a while here with the $11 minimum wage haha

They say Boston is more expensive than NYC now but idk. I believe it cause every time we go, things seem relatively cheap, like taxis, food, etc. Of course, lots of things are still expensive even food at some places but you could find cheap pizza or whatever about anywhere ha

Yeah, I'm thinking the experience and references will definitely be good. Although it still takes up time so I'm debating whether that time would be better spent working and earning money.

That could be. Not really sure. But I also haven't really slept well or much at all this week and I eat terribly, although this week I've been better with eggs, veggies, fruits, etc. Until the last couple days ha And of course the family drama stuff.

Likely a combination of everything I guess.

But shouldn't I be happy I graduated?

Yet anytime anyone asks, I am always sure to downplay it/put it down and be like, it's only a two year degree and feel badly about how long it took me to get it and how I haven't done anything.

Idk.

Probably just how my mind works, I've never been the most confident to begin with. I need to stop thinking so negatively though. Bad habit, I guess.

I mean, I did graduate Summa Cum Laude.

:yesss: I know you will get there.

Thanks! I've already been outside a lot more this week. Now I need to find a tiller ha

Yeah, that's a good idea. Lately I don't even start watching TV until like 10pm. Oddly, I mean to earlier but then the hours disappear somehow cause I get distracted, not even by the phone usually ha

And usually I'm tired but stay up amd eat junk. I should just go to bed.

And yes, winter it gets dark way too early to go to sleep lol I'm loving the longer daylight hours.

That's true. He also owns his iwn business so they truly are too but even so, we could have a lot more money if we didn't use the cards so much ha I think ours was recently increased.

Yeah, sometimes peeps that go "noodling" get their fingers bitten off by snapping turtles. :lau not really funny but anyone crazy enough to stick their hands and arms into a hole below the waterline, deserve what they get! (never go into the water, again!) was my motto for a long time after my catfish adventure.
I have been stung by catfish! It is not pleasant for sure

Of course you should! But while you were going to school, you had direction and a goal. Now it is  so it is natural to feel "odd". You will find your path and once on it feel better about things in general. People, like Livestock Guardian Dogs, need a purpose in life.

Although it still takes up time so I'm debating whether that time would be better spent working and earning money.
Some people do both ;) Volunteering at a shelter (or anywhere) is often only a few hours a week.

It's staying light until 11pm here now.

I used a reloadable prepaid credit card. It pays my cell & internet bills monthly, so it helps keep my credit rating up without having to actually have a credit card. Essentially I don't buy anything unless I already have the $. Also helps with security as far as online purchases go.

Thanks, that's true. And LOL loved the LGD analogy.

And hmm, that's a good point. Maybe I'll do both.

That's a great idea!!

And 11pm!? OMG.

That's why I could never live in Alaska. Wonky hours and extremely short days or no sun in winter. No thanks.

Although I know you're in Canada.
