The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Sounds like you had a storm of your own, Debby. I don't blame you for being disgusted.

We got nailed here yesterday. I think Darth Vader died. Found a big piece of bark from that tree in the yard. We'll have to wait until the next major snowfall to know for sure if it changed the pattern on the tree enough to make him all gone. But that's small potatoes compared to the rest of the damage. Tam's house in Lovell had all the windows on the north side smashed. Got a bit of video last night but we're going over there later today to get better shots. By the time we got over there from here (6 miles) there was already a crew there and they had 2 of the windows boarded up already and were working on the other. The current owner, who is living in Hawaii) had already filed a claim and had a crew out there cleaning it up while many people were still standing in the streets looking stunned and trying to figure out where to start.

We got it here pretty bad, too, but during just that little distance between here and Lovell the storm increased significantly in intensity. Fiona thought she died and went to doggie heaven - acres and acres of ice cubes and tree branches to chew and it was all hers!! Some reports of tornado but nothing confirmed yet. We had golfball (and bigger) sized hail and 60+ mph winds.
Glad everyone is ok.

Of course oxine isn't available in Canada :(
I borrowed this incubator, so want to be able to return it in pristine condition.

Wow!

Was it a tornado?

It is good that all are safe

That word has been floating around but nothing confirmed. I grew up in Eastern South Dakota, have lived in Mississippi, Tennessee, Illinois and here, and I've NEVER seen anything like this storm as far as how fast it hit, how violent it was, and how short it lasted as it moved southeast from here. Start to finish here in Cowley it was maybe 5 minutes, longer in Lovell. I think it either intensified as it moved or we got the edge of it and Lovell got the center of the storm. Folks are still out assessing damage, they had guards posted at the drug store all night, and almost every single north facing thing was damaged or destroyed.

The Weather service should be able to figure out what it was from their radar systems.

Up until about the last 10 years the weather experts said we did not have tornadoes here in the valley. It turns out that we do have low strength tornadoes that were found or radar.

They do not cause much damage though

Holy smokes!

and then they left without paying.
Should have blocked the road out! What nerve.

Maybe a microburst?
