Evidently they weren't crazy about the salmon either.. they ate some when I picked up pieces and made them try it but weren't loving it so I took it out and gave basically the whole can to the dog (I had put the can in a tray). He loved it. Gobbled it right up. The liver was a huge hit but they did have to try it first and I did cut it up smaller, I guess it looked funny at first. But then Gator was interested so I tossed him a piece out, gobbled it up. So I gave him a bigger piece. Thought he ate it but when I walked over, nope. Offered him a different piece, he ate it? So picked his up and fed him that. So he ate quite a lot of liver cause there was a second liver in the bag. But oddly he would only eat it out of my hand. When I put a piece in the pan, he wouldn't eat it?? Also the last piece he would not eat, no matter whether it was in the pan or hand fed, kept turning his head away and absolutely refused. So I gave up and tossed it back in the chicken run. I am not sure if they ate it yet. And also at first he wouldn't lick the blood from the liver off my hands and just went straight to the salmon plate, that was before I even offered him the liver, but I thought for sure he would want blood. Nope. My dog is weird. So are my chickens. They're all picky. Lol

They may eat more tomorrow. Chickens are often wary of new food

Maybe I need to get smart like you guys, and start hitting Farmer's Markets this week, or auctions. I miss my fresh veggies but just no time to start a garden. I most especially miss beets. Glorious, vitamin packed, flavorful beets with young leaves for salads! Okay, now I'm hungry - and NOT for the chili dogs Tam and Ken decided they wanted for supper. @N F C come and feed me!!!

Ok, fine. Come see me in the restaurant tomorrow and I'll fix you up with our Sampler plate: ribs, pulled pork, brisket, your choice of 2 side dishes and corn bread or garlic toast.

Sigh, the things I do for friends (and complete strangers now that I think of it).
