The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

We got most of the branches picked up in the yard this morning. We are waiting to do the big tree until later today so it dries up a bit. While we were out there son number one went tearing out of the yard so figured he got a fire call...which he did. Hubby went to unload branches and a little later son number 2 said dad is getting the truck out. He pulls up to us and said the fire is right down the road so we went to check it out. It looked like a pretty new semi on fire on the highway. There’s not much left of it. The area is pretty heavy with smoke right now so good thing we are done with branches for now.

I've never been able to play any instrument, except a drum and a flute...native style. Heck, I can't even play the radio! :gig
My grandfather played a banjo, pretty darn good at, too!
My talents are geared more towards the artistic side of painting, taxidermy, making things out of raw materials. There's something about taking a blank of wood and making a gunstock out of it, or taking an animal that's dead and making it look "alive"....anyone can mount an animal but it takes real talent, artistic ability to make that animal look alive. Same with anything I do, you have to feel the soul of what your working on and bring it to life.
Just never had that relationship with an instrument. :idunno
I wanted to play the french horn but somehow they decided i would be no good at it. My Dad wanted to teach someone to play harmonica but i never took to it. He also played accordion. I wanted to play piano too but never had one. Now there are lots of free ones, i have no space for it.

I want to learn how to play the piano. How did you turn out at the doctor’s?

He’s been plaguing...Er....playing tuba for one very looooooong school year! <sigh> Here they let the kids check instruments out for the summer. They have to have an adult initial the Practice Sheets and much to his dad’s horror Evan elected to do that - and take the tuba for the summer. Well, at least we didn’t have to worry about Dan forgetting to pack it and load it like he forgot Evan’s fishing pole and sleeping bag last year. I imagine he was glad to see the last of it! Evan started with trombone 2 years ago, and he was really getting pretty good at it. But the school band didn’t have a tuba player and he jumped at the chance. Lucky us. <sigh>
Sounds about as good as the one summer I tried to teach myself how to play the oboe.

:hugs Music and memories..... Sadly Terrin is still in the "I hate you" phase and I don't see that changing in the time I have left. But her mental illness has made any relationship just too toxic and I can't do it anymore. So I focus on what I have, pray for her safety and health, and remember how it was. All we can do, right?
:hugs

If you remember the old Sonny & Cher tv show, I always wanted to be like Cher (with more clothes tho) and be on top of a piano singing & have long bangle earrings.

Actually she is about a year older than I am - but, I skipped plastic surgery, can't sing, don't have pierced ears( don't want them either) and would probably fall off the piano.
Still.......I thought she was just so cool.
