The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

i'm afraid he might have been invited to supper, head of the table:lau:gig
Today that would be my response (imagine how much meat is there), but back then I had no idea how to dress out a gator and the internet hadn't yet been invented. Besides the neighbors were very wary of gunfire...:gig

my one nephew and a few of his buddies used to take the boat out on the river and go into slews looking for young gators, three of four feet, jump overboard , caught them, cut just the tail off and then let them go, lots of gators swimming around with no tails:lau:lau:lau:gig:gig:gig(they like to eat the tails fried up)

DW hat a pot luck thing at work a while back... Forgot about it, until like 8:00PM day before. Only thing I had in the freezer that could thaw in time was gator tail. So I made a lemon picatta with it... Everyone raved over how good it was and wanted the recipe. They all wigged out when they found out they were eating gator.:gig

I did that once at work with a squirrel sauerbraten. It was great until they learned what they had just eaten. :p

Good morning, chat folk.

Never ate the brains, but squirrel is probably my favorite of the wild meats.

When I was a kid I loved my grandma's mincemeat pie. Years later, I tried a few recipes trying to re-create hers with no luck. It wasn't until I was telling my brother about the pies that he let me know grandma made her mince from squirrel!

End of experiment...no canned squirrel at the grocery store (and no, I'm not going squirrel hunting).
