Foundation is in. Failed the inspection because the idiot contractor backfilled everything with no water proofing or weeping system. Got the tar done. Waiting on gravel to get the weeper in.
Failed the soil test for the septic because of sand.... waiting on test results for a different location.

Water well being drilled as we speak!!

House is scheduled to be set on the 5th.

How's things with you Bob?
Nice update!

moving forward after going backwards is progress

Great to see you @The Farmers' Daughter - glad your house is progressing in spite of the hiccups.

@bruceha2000 I've always wanted goats so it's good goat country! There's a rescue place here that has baby feral goats at the moment. They are so cute. Maybe next year.

There's a breed of sheep a family friend has called Damara sheep and they are more like a goat too, used to harsh landscapes and preferring browsing to grazing. They are a hair sheep and very hardy and maybe I could bear to grow some up to eat. Our son loves sheep so he's desperate to have some pet ones (so not sure how the eating part would go down). I also want to plant up an orchard somewhere, plant some hardwoods yearly to grow up for firewood, have a vegetable garden, enjoy the bird life, figure out where to put my aviaries. One side of the property slopes down gently and its clear of trees. The steep banks we'll have to plant up to stabilise them. Native flax is good for that and the tui love the nectar from the flowers. We'll see tomorrow whether we can fit the house we want where we want.
every thing sounds so nice
we used to raise hair sheep, much better tasting than wool sheep, just couldn't handle the wool sheeps taste(our own lambs) but when we started the hair sheep, big difference in taste

You moved Jae? Yay! What's the new place like? Did you sell your house quickly?

We just use sticks and paper to start fires.
Yep, that what I used to use back on the farm, if your good doesn't take much to get a good fire started.
