My grandmother had an old treadle machine I think Singer and it was in good condition. When she died my mom dumped it. I bet it would have brought in some $$ it was a well preserved antique. Besides it was all we had of grandmas. I would have kept it.

I don't remember Grandma Silver having a sewing machine unless it was in her room. I know she quilted, so maybe it was all by hand.
 
No matter how much I practice I can never get my stitching neat and tidy. :hmm

We have another baby - a little Society finch:

I suspect it's going to be a one and only. Another egg had started to unzip but it looks like the membrane dried over its nostrils. I'd be very pleased if this was the only chick seeing as they are in a cage that's really difficult to catch them out of. It's going to have all its aunts and uncles fussing over it so it's going to be a fat little podge.
