My mom suggested he get tested for it today. His response? "I don't have strep throat."

And he knows that because:

• He has looked in his throat for the tell tale white spots? (which are only an indication, you can have strep without them).
• Because he went to a concert a couple of days ago and screamed until his vocal chords were raw?
• Because he is too "manly" to see if there is a medical reason for having a throat that is so sore he doesn't want to eat?

Btw he did end up eating some, mostly my sides and he said his throat wasn't that bad until today. If he still feels bad tomorrow, he's going in

Probably the latter and the fact that my mom is always giving him unsolicited advice so he tends to tune her out/not take it sometimes. Plus he has never been very in tune with his body or good about seeing doctors anyway. Thankfully he did eat some though

It was really good though, especially considering the fact I've been eating almost exclusively muffins for 2 days, but I wish there was a pain emoji

Trying to catch up on a couple of things I missed reading last night...

I am 30 pages behind! Oh boy!

My DS has had a nasty cold (picked up from one of his cousins) but he's perkier today. My Nan had to have an operation yesterday - they'd found cancer in her thyroid but thankfully it hadn't gotten any further. Thankfully she handled the surgery and anaesthetic just fine. They'd said the operation would be 4-6 hours long, depending on what they found and she was done in 4.

My DD had found a 5 leafed clover the afternoon before the operation so I took that as a good sign. I've got a photo but I'll have to download it from my phone. It's one crazy clover. We are currently pressing it.

My doves hatched one chick but I brought it in to warm it up as it was dry but still half in its shell and it didn't feel (or act) warm enough. It was cool overnight. They've nested in a ridiculous spot so I've added more bedding to try and keep baby in the right place (not easy with the sitting parent trying to bite me, not that dove beaks are strong enough to even hurt).

The other egg was very cold and I feared the worst but I've got it wrapped up with a hot water bottle and it started moving when I candled once it was warm and its started tapping away in there so we'll see what happens there. I may put it in the incubator overnight as it hasn't externally pipped yet and I don't trust those silly doves not to lose it during the night (not that I really need another bird)!

Jae, so glad to see you! Sorry to hear about your nan (that's your grandmother, right?). Hope she continues to do well. Congrats on a new dove chick, and possibly a 2nd one!

I might have a tough time getting productive tomorrow. Supposed to be 7° overnight, difficult to think I want to go outside. There isn't any great hurry to get down to the animals since they have plenty of food and water and won't come out of the barn anyway.

BUT ... I need to drive 25 miles south to Burlington for 10 AM to rent a pickup at UHaul then come back home to load the splitter to be returned 50 miles south. It might be 20° at 10. Going to have to pull the splitter out of the little barn and up to the parking area with the garden tractor, then rig some chain so I can lift it with the real tractor into the bed of the truck. Sure hope that thing has tie down locations on it somewhere.

This would be substantially more fun if the day started at 35°.

Hope your weather man is wrong about those low temps (like ours seems to be 75% of the time). Sounds like a lot of maneuvering and no fun to be outside doing it. Did you get enough wood you won't need the splitter again this winter?
