The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

You could always send the fruit cake East. I'm one of those weird folks who actually like fruit cake. :drool

I like it too :)

husband loves fruitcake so every year i make sure he have a couple

That does it...we're starting a Fruitcake Lover's Unite Club!

My favorite is from the Collins Street Bakery...been eating them since I was a wee tot. They come in metal tins and those have been a feature in every house I've ever lived in, used for everything from thread holders to banks.

19 adults and 5 babies.

With that many adults I expect to some day read that you have 19 adults and 245 babies!

Everything is ripped out now. Wiring started going in today. That will be done tomorrow. Inspection on Thursday. Plumber can't come until the beginning of January and the gas fitter/HVAC can't come before the middle of January. So, about a month from now we should be able to start closing things in.
How's yours coming along?

You're farther ahead than us. DH is going back today for several days. So far, he's done all the work by himself except my small contributions. We still have a little drywall left in the bathroom that we need to take out to create a 1/2 bath. Then wiring and plumbing. Then a bunch of other stuff...then...

Ahhh okay. That makes sense. I imagine dried fruit would be much better than candied.
I agree. Not that I need to try a "modern" one specifically but the candied fruit in the "old" ones was :sick

I’d rather sit down and eat an entire Hershey Bar than fruitcake!
And for those that don't know, that is saying a WHOLE lot! @Blooie doesn't like chocolate at all.

I gotta learn to keep my mouth shut.
Don't do that, we'd miss you a bunch!

I’ll be 68 on my next birthday.
Gonna be sitting home in the recliner enjoying a relaxing day?

Maybe I’ll even put on my wild fuzzy jammie bottoms, wear a tight crop top that shows my bellies - all of them - and become a Walmart Lady.
:gig

I think you'd look good in pink, go for it!
But then we would have to call her Pinkie not Blooie!

Good morning, everyone.

Amount of time spent on the shelf or used as a doorstop.

There's a huge difference in fruit cake recipes. I like the one from Collins Street Bakery because it's mostly pecans :drool Got one for me and one for my mom just yesterday in the mail!
