The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

@sharron's answer got in before the end quote tag. This is it:

Careful Sean! Don’t need you injuring yourself again!!
guess they were duel purpose, i guess we could have sold the wool but usually just gave it away if we could, the hair sheep are all meat sheep, the wool sheep are good to some people but i didn't like it, i could taste the lanolin in the meat and as for beans, i usually plant bush green beans, one row of yellow bush beans and two rows of kentucky blue wonders, we use a hog panel or cattle panel on each row and make it like a teepee, works great for standing while picking instead of bending over to pick
thank you bruce

you know they do have a french green beans, its a green bean thats in territorial seed co., i buy alot of my seeds from them

Oooohhh maybe I should try that one! Although I have a lot of seeds already. Wish I had seen that before I ordered mine a few weeks ago. But oh well. Maybe I will try that kind next year!

Found my post I made a few weeks ago when I ordered the stuff!! Couldn’t find the screenshot, must have deleted it, so wanted to find the post. I know most of you saw this already but this is what I ordered. Hopefully it all tastes good. Evidently the beans are Empress beans. Apparently it is supposed to be one of the best for eating. We will see. They also have French here but decided to just get one type. Although I just noticed my bean is bush habit. Whoops. I am so daffy lol well, maybe that will be better? I guess no trellis will be needed though? But I will likely still need the trellis for the other veggies though so will build one anyway. I think most of these won’t require one though.

And here are all of the SSE beans offered. My kind is sold out already, I only ordered mine the 10th, so they must be good if it is already sold out and I apparently ordered just in time lol

KD, my green bean recipe doesn't work at all for green bean casserole. And fresh beans in the store are ok, but most of the nutrient content is gone long before you get them. So I use my beans for canning and fresh. I chop up bite sized pieces of carrots, potatoes, and onions (about 10% by volume of the beans). Add that, the beans and about 5% by volume bacon to chicken stock a little salt and pepper and cook until the beans are tender. What's neat about the recipe is after you've eaten the veggies, you can add some chicken, noodles and mixed veggies to the left over stock and make chicken veg soup. And I love to eat raw fresh picked green beans right off the plant.

That sounds delicious!!! Thanks for the recipe!! I will have to try that!! And the kind I got says it is good for fresh eating so hopefully it will be! Lol although I must admit that I am a bit nervous about just eating stuff fresh off a plant without washing it first :hide

That makes sense!! Might have to try Territorial next year!! I just got from these guys cause I was Googling best seed companies and they came up. Territorial did too and a bunch of other ones but one of the articles said that this one was their favorite one so I decided to try it. And I do like them. But I know nothing about seeds or anything so I just kinda browsed through all the pages and picked ones that sounded good lol
