Depends on how much water you need to put down. LOTS bigger for acres of crops ;)
For that trellis and similar length plantings I make them 2 or 3" wide and about 1" deep, enough to keep the water from spreading sideways. You want the "ditch" to be nearly level so the water doesn't run downhill so fast it doesn't have time to soak in. Similar size for individual plants and you can link the "moats" with a "ditch" so you can water several at once without having to move the hose.

Looks like another winner for the restaurant!

To me the first walnut is acerbic, I avoid them.

You were just checking to see if we were paying attention! Very pretty.

Quite the swing! We aren't going to make 20°F but then our low was -8° and the lowest windchill was around -25°F IIRC. THANK YOU for not sharing your lows and "Real feel" with us!!

Thanks again! That’s really helpful. I’m gonna try to post a picture of the garden today.

:frow everyone!

Took a while to catch up...

Arby's... someone told me once that used to work there that here in Canada they use a liquid that is poured onto a grill to make their beef :sick

Also... didn't your president tell you not to eat oreos?

The cold has hit us, but nothing compared to what the midwest has endured. Right now it's-22* with a real feel of -29*. Celcius mind you. It's been snowing since Thursday. A really fine snow. Total accumulation so far is about a foot. Forecasters had anticipated 2 feet, so we're not doing too badly.

There's finally going to be a critter sale in our area this year. :woot my friends and I are getting a booth. So, I've been busy knitting. Right now I'm working on an egg apron. Gotta hurry and get me an incubator. Sale is Easter weekend. My friends have already got 6 birdhouses built.

Propane tank is being delivered on Monday and getting filled on Tuesday. Then we'll be able to fire up the furnace! Once that's done we'll be able to get the water pressure pump in and we'll have heat and running water! :wee

Hi Michelle, good to hear from you!

Don't know about the Oreo thing. I just know if there's a package of them in the house they have a way of mysteriously disappearing!

Glad you aren't getting a horrid amount of snowfall. Good news on getting the furnace up and running soon!

The sale sounds like fun, I hope there's a good turnout and you make some good sales.

Me too! This will be my first foray into the chick and hatching egg business. :fl

Agreed on the oreos. I know that you said that you don't like mint, but I've been devouring peppermint ones lately. :drool

You can have all the peppermint ones you like. I'll stick with the classic!

Once you start in on the hatching, you'll have to keep us posted on how it's going. Sounds exciting :thumbsup
