The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I will be building the goat shelter myself.
Ah where's the fun in having it done the right way the first time and in a reasonable timeframe??

That's the idea anyway...me at the golf course and him on the house. He likes to micromanage so we'll see how that works out.
Harder to micromanage you when you are at the course and he is at the house FAR away :D

Good morning! Happy Day before Spring!!!!!! :ya

Good morning everyone :)

DMC, I know you're gone now but sending you "have a good day" vibes.

Tina, the calendar shows spring starting tomorrow but my thermometer is still stuck on winter. It was a brisk 11* this morning :hmm

Spring is definitely here for us!!! Or at least I hope so. Been 40s and 50s lately. Nights still getting pretty cold, into the 30s, and several still below freezing, like high 20s, so we are not entirely there yet but getting there I think. Have some plants coming up, saw some green shoots yesterday. But the real reason I saw spring is here is because all the animals are!! And animals seem to know!! Yesterday there were TONS of robins in the yard!! And I think I saw a chickadee or some sort of smaller bird in a tree too. So the birds are back, of course the deer I saw the other day (and they came back over the weekend too apparently), and now today we have some more visitors! Turkeys!! 5 of em plus a huge Tom dancing all around all puffed up, with the girls totally ignoring him :lau actually, I think the girls left or went to a different part of the yard and he’s still in the backyard dancing around, totally clueless. :lau poor guy. Initially there were 3 but then 2 more appeared. And then what I think is another Tom appeared. But he hasn’t fully appeared, like come out into the open, he is hiding at the tree line still, so I can’t be entirely sure, but it looked to have a red face and be slightly puffed up/holding wings out, which is why I think it is another Tom, but it is pretty far away from the window I am looking out of and like I said, hidden in trees, so not entirely sure. Will try to get a better look. But given the fact that he’s hiding, I think it’s another male and possibly a young one. I think he sees this big boy dancing around and doesn’t wanna risk it. Smart guy. :lau the one hiding has been laying down several minutes now. Other guy still dancing around.

All the turkeys finally reappeared, including the one that was hiding. Definitely a Tom. But the other guy doesn’t seem too bothered so maybe it is a young one?? Idk how long turkeys stay with the flock. But they’re all back in the backyard. Including several hens on the deck.
Are these wild turkeys? Seems odd.

It was a brisk 11* this morning :hmm
12°F here this morning but it made it to the upper 30s in the afternoon. Should be mid 40's tomorrow and Thursday. Rain Thursday night through Friday.

But they’re all back in the backyard. Including several hens on the deck.
What, no pictures?
