Nope, not common for Goldens to be Barker's . None of mine barked a lot. Well, you are wise to wait to get a dog/pup until you know you will be there for it. To let you know. . . . I got all three of mine from different breeders. A Golden is a Golden ...well.. except for those Barkers....that's strange.
but yeah, I don’t want to get a dog and then have no time to train or anything. And plus I have the new chicks coming the end of this month and the garden to set up and everything so just not a good time for one. And yeah, it’s definitely odd!! They don’t just bark either. They have actually attacked my brother’s neighbor’s dog last year. They (neighbor) were walking by the Goldens’ house and someone had left the gate open and they ran up the hill (so a bit down the street, not even directly in front of the house, think maybe a few houses away) and attacked the dog totally unprovoked. Thankfully, she had no injuries. She didn’t even fight back and she’s a bully mix. And every time we walk by and the dogs are out, they get up and charge the fence and go crazy. Thankfully lately they have been inside when we walk by but the fence is also very low, like maybe 4 feet or less and wooden picket/slat kind of type except plain wood not white, so they could probably quite easily jump over it. They haven’t yet but it’s concerning. Today they drove by while we were on our walk, almost home, and the dog stuck it’s head fully out and barked fairly aggressively and loudly. Scared the dogs and I since it came up from behind. And also odd that the window was down almost all the way with known dog aggressive dogs. Not that they would have jumped out but they could have. The dog was out pretty far. There thankfully haven’t been any more incidents since that one attack months ago but it is definitely still always a concern of ours. But I know that most are not like that.
.Thank you.
