The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Morning, you wavers.....and non-wavers! Another sunny day in Cowley, which means it’s time for our weekly giant dog poops cleaning! At least she always uses the same little section of the yard!

Last night was the annual pancake supper that the Masons hold for the Masonic widows. Just did my little heart good to sit down and visit with all of the ladies (young and old) while the men did the cooking, serving, and cleaning. I think this should have been Ken’s official Grand Master’s photo...

Personally I hate pancakes, but the scrambled eggs and sausage were delicious, and I was given a long stemmed red rose from the guys. The Masonic widows and other elderly ladies there were all given white roses, and the wives there with their hubbies got pretty salmon pink ones.

Also, on the way there we saw two Irish Wolfhounds!! I couldn’t get a picture as we passed them too fast but they were awesome!! One was HUGE and light grey and the other one seemed pretty small, at least for an Irish Wolfhound, and was much darker almost black/brown? Do IWs come in that dark of a gray? And it wasn’t really small per se, I suppose there wasn’t that much difference between the two, but enough where it was very noticeable. Seemed way smaller compared to the other. Maybe male and female? Anyway, they were both gorgeous and I thought @Blooie might appreciate this story. :D

There were, of course, lots of other dogs, it was a gorgeous night and we were downtown, but none worth sharing with my fellow BYCers because none were as cool as the IWs. :D

Thanks for sharing that! IWs can be super dark or very light Wheaton - almost white. They can be brindled, like Fee is, with a lighter or darker base coat. Fiona’s mom is much darker than she is. We were kinda hoping for a dark or grey pup, but Fee was the only one left and I detest a harsh, splotchy brindle coat color. As she’s gotten older, her coat has evened out some in color and the brindle has sort of faded into subtle shadings more than markings, if that makes any sense.

As for the size difference, Wolfies are kind of odd in that around 6 months there is absolutely no obvious “puppy” look to them anymore. They look exactly like small adults, even in the head and neck area. So if the second dog was still young...say a year or so old....that might explain the size difference. And yes, females are usually smaller than males, but still pretty doggone big, as you can see from the photos of Dixie and Fiona now. In the pictures I’ve seen of Fiona’s mom and Dad, there wasn’t a lot of height and length difference between the two, but his overall build was heavier. There are always exceptions within the breed, too....some will be bigger than the breed standard and some can be smaller.

Good observations on your part, for just a fleeting look as you drove by them, and thanks for thinking of Fiona! She is kind of unforgettable! The Fed Ex guy is terrified of her....the UPS guy loves her. If she’s not outside when he comes, he actually asks to see her, and gives her a treat!

So awesome that you are getting ready to graduate! Congratulations!

Blooie great story:clap

Congrats!

:frow You're up early

Good morning everyone!

Hi LittleBrownie, good to hear from you! Early congratulations on graduating, you'll soon be off to new adventures...keep us posted on how things are going kiddo :hugs

And that's my weather today...snowy, blowy and foggy. No golfing today but the restaurant will be open as usual so if anyone wants to brave the elements, come on down for some ribs & potato salad!

I need to let my cats know the house can be their jungle gym...usually they think I'M their jungle gym :p

So great that you popped in! And congratulations!! Onward and upward!

I know where it is, Debby! Want I should take you a picture of it?

:caf:pop
Thank you all

Wow! It's crazy how much the brindle has muted in her coat! I did not realize how their color changes.

It's such a nice thing the Masons did for the ladies! It was "service week" here too, all the civic groups doing community service projects. Human compassion is a vital componant and often in short supply.

I knew it had changed, but until I went back through the photos to find her “first day” shots, I didn’t realize just how drastically, either! Funny!!

It really is nice that they do this for the ladies. In February one of the 3 Lodges Ken belongs to here (Lovell, Powell, Cody) does a Ladies at the Table, which is a total hoot! Catered meal, flowers for every lady in attendance, and the ladies are honored for their support over the past year. There are 7 toasts, and the first 6 are to honor women selected for their direct contributions to the Masons, their communities, or, as in the case when our Jenny was an honoree, for something very special that they have done. It can be a woman from the past - they’ve honored Wyoming’s first woman governor who later became the head of the mint, or a right-now woman. The final toast is reserved for each and every lady who has patiently ridden along, or stayed home and waited, washed and ironed the dress shirts, and didn’t understand a cotton pickin’ thing about why they were doing it. :lau

The chickies are so cute lately lol I open the door and they all come running up and jump on my knees and fly on me and run around lol

Today I sat in there and they were so cute.

Sweetpea tried to dustbathe in my sweatshirt with no dust. :lau :love thinking tomorrow if it’s nice I may let them out in the yard for the first time. In a little pen or something of course.

Here are some cute videos of them from today.

And a few pictures lol

MUCH more room.
That looks very nice.

Tune in next time to see what exciting things are happening around the town that time forgot!
Can't be anything more exciting than half a basement hole dug is just a few seconds!

That is cool looking .... and scary!

Heck, who needs dine in customers with take out orders like this?
Dine in probably tip ;)

I'm a hundred pages behind, you guys have been busy!
And you've been MIA!

Looks like both Fiona and Ken got older! :p

Sweetpea tried to dustbathe in my sweatshirt with no dust.
That is just too funny.
