The wind is crazy here today. I-80 is closed to trucks for a 100 mile stretch from here on east to Laramie due to "extreme blow over risk". I'm glad we aren't trying to go anywhere today.

Seems to be a somewhat regular event. I remember Blooie mentioning it a few times last winter.

Seems to be a somewhat regular event. I remember Blooie mentioning it a few times last winter.

Seems to happen even more during this time of year (that's my limited experience anyway). I hadn't heard of it happening until we moved here. The first time someone told me about toppling semi's due to high winds I thought they were pulling my leg.

It's kind of scary seeing those huge trucks laying on their sides along the highway. Sure makes me give them a lot of leeway when I'm on the highway.

I have a friend from BYH who used to be a long haul trucker. One told the dispatcher he was stopping and to heck with the delivery schedule. He'd rather be alive than in the semi when it was rolled by the wind.

Even our news is showing pictures - tumbleweed drifts and trucks being blown sideways and over.

Scary isn't it? I haven't seen one actually go over but I've seen quite a few of them after it has happened. I'd sure hate to be driving close to one when it tips!
