I agree with room onthebroom, don't know how you read this stuff. So intense! Lately I've been reading historical accounts on my Kindle. I do most of my reading right before bed. The Shining would give me nightmares!

If you like historical fiction I highly recommend "The Memoirs of Cleopatra " by Margaret George, Colleen McCullough's "First Man In Rome" series and anything by Pauline Gedge (ancient Egypt).

Thank you FD!! My father was obsessed with the Roman Empire and had scads of books around the house on this. I think I got my curiosity on historical accounts from him and his books. I will look into these, I am always scouting for new subjects. Thanks again!!

Messed up and saw the latest movie of it while listening to it, and was pointing out the differences in my head, not just location of the story(London verses, wherever the movie was shot) but minor storyline differences...I think the book was better...

That's neat, didn't know that about Cracker Barrel. I've always been worried I'd dislike the voice and will have wasted my money. Maybe if Morgan Freeman narrated every book I also don't venture far, but it's about 40 mins a day from home to work and back, so it might be nice. Change of pace, in any case.

That short one I was talking about really took me a minute to get into it. The narrator was using such a goofy voice! But it turned out quite good.

Have you tried podcasts? I started doing that for my commute. "Canadian True Crime" is good. "My Dad Wrote a Porno" is freaking hilarious!
