We raised some pigs growing up. That was the best ham!
we will see, found out that this butcher also cures bacon and ham, didn't know since this is the first pig, he did a beef for us many years ago, hes hard to get hes always so busy but like the way he did the beef.
i miss our old butcher, lost him years ago to cancer but he was excellent , one you could trust, theres one about two miles from us that i will never take anything to him again, i swear he switched our beef, oh well, my friends son now supplies us with beef

Good afternoon Chrissy, Sour and Ron!

Sharron, other than the little pig going to the market, do you have others at home?

Bob, just getting through the greets is a day's work. Do you think your boss would understand if you explained that to them?
yes debby, we still have three, a boar and two sows, they will be our breeding stock if we like the meat, these piggys are spoilt rotten too. before this virus stuff, our pigs ate high on the hog :lau we went to the bakery every night and got all the left overs, bread, rolls, doughnuts, cake pies, whatever they had, since they were going to throw it away anyway, piggys liked it, plus pasture, hay, and pig pellets and alfalfa pellets, they ate quite well and in the summer, tomatoes, apples pears any thing we had but they didn't like peppers or carrots for some reason:idunno spoilt rotten

What are you up to today Sue? How's your garden shaping up?
Trying to get my paperwork together for going in tomorrow so I can do time cards and other stuff, plus I have two parents that haven't gotten back to me the whole time 🙄 They did tell us today that we will be going in to do end of year stuff in the next couple of weeks.

I was going to make The peanut butter bread and The Apple fritter loaf today but I got to thinking about all the other stuff we have and decided to wait.I have The whole summer -until The end of July anyway.
I seriously need to stop baking or I'll have to run up and down the driveway to fit my clothes 😬😳

The garden is slowly coming along -we had to rebuild part of the planter and finish weeding. We finally got beans, peas, lettuce, carrots and spinach planted last week I believe. The asparagus is doing okay, we have a few more ready to eat 😋 and we have more potatoes that I found while weeding.

How are things going for you? How's your foot?

Good job on the garden! I hope it all does well for you. Finish weeding? How do you ever finish weeding? :D

The parents you aren't hearing back from, I hope they're working with their kids and not slacking off. It's hard for kids to catch up if they get behind.

I've been baking too. Yesterday it was 3 pizza doughs (we baked 2 of them last night), and a loaf of sandwich bread, today it was a double batch of p-nut butter chocolate chip cookies. I'll meet you at the end of the driveway and we can race up and down together (but 6' apart) :gig

Cuteness!

How did I miss that yesterday?! Adorable babies Cap. 🥰

Only one of my chicken eggs is showing development. The eggs, despite getting to me overnight, look like they had a rough ride up. On candling them before I set them I found very loose, wobbly air cells. The yolk doesn't look right in the 2 that haven't done anything. Unfortunately getting more than 6 eggs meant a big jump in the cost to post them up here. I didn't even think about the fact that more would be better in case of a situation like this. :hit

If that baby makes it I'm going to have fun finding it a friend. I have emailed the lady we are getting our rabbit off as she may still be hatching eggs. If she isn't then I might email the lady up here that runs and organises the poultry show for Northland. She will hopefully be able to track someone down for me that's hatching still.

One of my duck eggs looks to have quit but I did think it was strange it wasn't as developed as the other two from the same nest. I now have 5 out of the remaining 6 pressing against the inner membrane and the 6th one is still moving. It's like they are waiting for everyone to be ready. Then they can take their leisurely time driving me crazy while I hover over them. I'm wondering how noisy they'll be as the incubator is in the cupboard outside the kids rooms. I've only hatched quail in the incubator.
