The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Like everyone else, I have my moments

I see you're in Ohio, what's your weather like there? Have you had any wintery weather yet?
Snow flying today and I had to go out and clip some wings . The Mallards get flighty when the wind blows I only have five breeders for next spring . Lucky my wife was able to help .

I have had some Mallards fly off only to return the next spring . One came back with a girl friend and landed in my chicken run . I wondered how it made it through the barrage of hunters and remembered it's way back ?

Built in homing instincts I guess. That's nice you got one back (and with a girl friend no less)!

Hi everyone!

Been busy here, as usual :D

Sad to say a fox got my Barnevelder Saturday evening :hit Fortunately, we took care of him the next day when he came back. However, after we killed the fox, we left the chicken up for bait hoping we took care of the issue. Well.. the whole chicken was gone the next day. So, last night I happened to look outside and there was another fox. I'm hoping we can snag that one tonight too, but not a good sign that we have seen two now. I am starting to think there is a den somewhere by our place.

I hope you all had a wonderful day!

Hi Riv, good to hear from you!

Sorry to hear about the fox (or foxes). Hope you can get things buttoned down so you don't have more losses.

Thank you, I hope so too. I let them free range the other day but not today after seeing a second fox. They weren't too happy about that!

I bet not, it's hard to explain to chickens that you're doing it for their own good.
